Where to check trafic fines online?

Hello,

I lived on the island for two years, now abroad, and got a call today that I have some fines for speeding.

I used to drive on Russian number plates during the first year in 2022-2023 and then I was issued a ZT number plate 2023-2024. It is highly unlikely that the camera software could recognize both types, and also during that time it looks like cameras were not working for some reason.

Is there a site where I can check my traffic fines online?

Normally it is the police station, passport and driving licence plus vehicle details. If you have been informed by letter, Lefkoşa has the facility to show you the picture evidence. Obviously things may have moved on and there is an online system.

I didnt get a direct call, a guy came to a person in Alsancak I know and who helped me with Muhtar paper the first time.

Does anyone receive any trafifc fines for the period of 2022-2024 years? Were cameras working during this time at all?

I was going to agree with Groucho in that it was a scam, but it could well be genuine with the new info. Did the chap go to the address you stayed in here (and possibly redirected to the chap you know)?
Cameras have been in operation here for years, and definitely during the period you mention. Surprised that you didn't know that when living here.
The courier with the letter regarding the fine will only pass the letter on to the registered owner of the car, so am assuming that the chap who called you was only told that you had a fine, and then passed info on to you.
Normally what happens if you are abroad, is they catch you when entering the country and issue the fine at say Ercan. If you are not coming back here, I wouldn't worry about it, but if you are, be aware that you will have a fine to pay, and they do have lengthy memories here.
Also, it can take quite some time for a fine to come through. I've had one speeding fine and it took about 3 years before a chap came to my door, and then I had 14 days to pay from date of delivery. I'm not aware of any online system where you can check, would be a bit dodgy if you could, as anyone could check up on you.

Ten years ago a guy came to the house and handed me an official speeding fine that had to be signed for. I checked in diary and yes, I had been in that place at that time. I was 5Km over the limit. Local neighbours laughed their heads off and said, "they would never dare do that to us". Went down to Girne police and paid up. The points were amended on their computers 15 months later. Its important you check this is done!!

Thanks for the tip about checking points BB, I didn't do that. It was years ago, maybe 8, can't remember now. Will try to remember to go to a main police station to check, doubt if Tatlisu will be able to help. I was caught by a camera on Famagusta to Lefkosa road, couldn't have been much over as I only got 5 points which is the lowest issued, but probably over 5km. You were really unlucky.
