Losing signal
I am fed up with losing my Digiturk signal when its windy as it is most of the time at the moment. Digiturk came last week and did some adjustments but today it still the same I cannot watch it at all. Any suggestions apart from blowing it up!

Re: Losing signal
Move it to a place out of the normal wind direction.
We have digiturk and no problems in wind.

Re: Losing signal
Whats wrong with blowing it up? Its definitely more fun that what you facing at the moment...
On a serious note, a digiturk signal with a 90cm dish is very strong. Unless the guys who has done the adjustment is incompetent, your situation can be explained by one of the following.
1. Your dish is permanently damaged by impact or strong winds, it can no longer focus the signal to a single point and thus does not work like it should. Solution: Replace the dish. However, this does not make sense as the guys doing the adjustment should realize you are getting lower than normal signal and warn you that something is wrong.
2. Your LNB is permanently damaged and it cannot send down the signal to the box properly. LNBs do not easily fail, but there are live circuitry inside them that works by drawing power from the receiver that may fail. Solution: Replace the LNB. However, this does not make sense for the same reason above.
3. Your cable might be damaged. Strong winds possibly might have moved the cable through sharp edges, causing cuts in it, especially if it is not properly fastened. Even if the cuts/cracks are not deep, water penetration may cause corrosion inside that greatly attenuates the signal. Now the magic question is this: Once the guys did fine alignment of your dish on the roof, did they bring their spectrum analyzer inside and check the signal strength all the way to where the box is? Or they just aligned the dish, check if it works on the digiturk box at the time and just left? Solution: Inspect the cable all the way physically and replace if you notice any cracks, cuts or extreme bends in the cable. Measure signal strength in the house and replace the cable if it is any lower than expected.
4. If all 3 above is confirmed working as expected, you can now be suspicious of the box itself. Solution: Try another box to be sure, then speak to digiturk for a replacement box.
Hope this helps. Kemal

Re: Losing signal
Thanks for the advice it only loses signal when the wind is strong. I live high up in Catalkoy and the dish is on the roof its only 10 months old. The service guy checked everything last week and said it needed minor adjustment it was fine until today when the wind started up again. Guess I will have to go and chat with them again.

Re: Losing signal
Digiturk service seems to be going downhill fast. I have been with them since they first came out and have never had a problem. Two weeks ago I needed a new box as mine was out of date We got the new one fitted it and during the night it switched itself off. We were told all different things that could be wrong ( over the phone ). Change the skart leads etc, to no avail. Back again to change it. This time it was a turkish remote control and the writing on the screen was illegible, so even my TC husband could not understand the instructions, this time among other things we were told we would have to buy a LCd TV for it to work !!!!. Back again and then again. Fourth time we were given the same box that turned itself on standby all the time. Finally we have got a English remote control but the writing, information on programmes again is illegible. I cannot even find a way to tag programmes that I want to record. Hopefully when they come out this morning it will be sorted. Anyone else having problems.

Re: Losing signal
Had 2 guys come out yesterday with yet another box (a Digiturk Plus, can record programmes ) but this one brand new just out of wrappers. They connected it up. Said we had to wait until 6 o'clock to let it set up. Came the time, it kept switching itself off. Rang the guy who fitted it and was told to bring the 6th box back tomorrow. Sussed out how to work it and it is so easy to record programmes while watching others, IF ONLY it would not keep turning itself off all the time. Does anyone know of another system that has Dizimax channels and BBC Entertainment etc or is it only Digiturk..
