Thank you so much for this. I had completely forgotten to get my road tax printed out for this year, as I left for UK just after paying. Will get to Deniz Plaza this week. Copy on my phone, so hopefully that should do if I get stopped.

I know you should have a hard copy, but if it's any help, I've been stopped three times over recent months by police checking cars, and each time they used a tablet pc to check the car documents and only asked to see my driving licence.

I was got for speeding and all they had was a tablet, and warned me when MOT and Tax was due. I didn't have D.L. on me at the time, but they could still tell from the Car Reg No. I wouldn't be surprised if they had details of my passport as well.

I can understand being stopped for speeding - BUT - if the data on the police tablet has all the information suggested, why are they not just stopping those cars bearing a license plate that they already know is illegal on the road? A simple drive around a car park and a check on reg numbers would seem to be an easy thing to do. If you want an easier job then as a police person just sit with your tablet inside the Girne main car park and check the license numbers as people turn up to pay for the parking - too easy!

Waddo good idea but car park is not the road
BUT when you leave the camera takes your number proof not to mention the cameras on the gantries over the roads
My MOT is out and I'm out of the country feel I may be hunted on return

wanderer, what has the ROAD got to do with it? Here if your car is out of road tax it does not matter where you park it - it is illegal, the same goes for the MoT!

Is it true that if you brick your car up and park in your garage, then all of the above is null and void. Or am I getting a conversation going back a couple of years ago totally confused.

I always thought a good idea would be to go around office car parks, check who isn't taxed, return in the evening and if the car is gone come back the next day and fine them.
