In's and Out's
I read somewhere recently that if you are applying for exemption that you have to take a copy of your In's and Out's, 2 questions:
1 - In Girne do you get your In's and Out's from the Police station, same place where you attend for your Police appointment
2 - Do they give you a copy for a set period or do you have to ask for 3 or so years

Yes you can get from Girne, at one of the windows
Cikis / giris my phone keeps changing the spelling
Name,DOB , where you were born, reason why, signature and stamp
I think 37.5tl but I always buy from the cafe to ensure I have the right value
Normally it records the last 10 years

Thanks snd1966
When you say, Name, DOB etc, etc, do they ask you for this and you just sign, or do you have to bring it with you already written down along with a copy of your passport i assume ?

You ask or find a small white form, it's in turkish but sometimes there is one with English written beside it
On the table, stuck on a wall or window.
The stamp you hand them and they put it on your in and outs and stamp it

We weren't asked when we got our Exemption in August. Must be a new addition to their demands.

Re: In's and Out's
bjb, i read something recently that it was a new requirement, to stop the swallows getting round the 30/90 day rule.
Went this morning and they asked me if I wanted it for the 5 year exemption, I said yes, they said no problem and gave me a copy listing ever time I have been in and out since the first time we came here in 2007

Re: In's and Out's
I did wonder why the ins and outs were a new requirement, as I didn't need that in January. Makes sense when you think about it. It would make more sense if all the systems tied up, and there was no need to go here and there to supply all the documents required, perhaps other than the Muhtar letter, which seems a bit strange to me and bank statements. My Muhtar has known me for years, but am sure not all know every foreigner personally, living in their area.Dave G wrote: ↑Thu 20 Nov 2025 11:38 ambjb, i read something recently that it was a new requirement, to stop the swallows getting round the 30/90 day rule.

Re: In's and Out's
Sorry more questions:
1 - both mine and the bosses passports have less than 4 years left on them, will we still get 5 years exemption?
2 - do you have to make an appointment to get your exemption or do you just turn up ?

Re: In's and Out's
1. You will both be fine with your passports. Get them to issue the exemption on a piece of paper, not stamped in your passport.
My passport expires next year. I did ask about this and Immigration told me that so long as it was on separate paper I would be fine and not have to go back to Immigration when I got new passport. If you get your current passport stamped, you will have to go to Immigration when you get your new one.
2. You just turn up, no appointment needed. At least that was the state of play in January 2025.

Re: In's and Out's
My exemption was on an A4 sheet of paper and looked exactly like the Residency form until I realized there was a signature, a number and a bit of scribble on the bottom RH corner, which was then overstamped . So I took it, had it reduced to the size of my passport and clipped to inside of the back cover. It seems to satisfy everyone.

Re: In's and Out's
Good to know BB. I had mine copied and laminated to passport size, but have never had the need to show it so far. I don't want the original getting all tatty, and don't want to be carrying it around all the time.
