Pharmaceutical warehouses are not supplying medicines; a 17% price increase is expected before the New Year.

According to information obtained by Cyprus Post from the pharmaceutical community, a price increase of approximately 17 percent is anticipated for medicines. Therefore, the supply of medicines from pharmaceutical warehouses to pharmacies has stopped.

There is significant uncertainty in the pharmaceutical supply chain. According to reports, pharmaceutical wholesalers are currently not supplying pharmacies, and a price increase of approximately 17 percent is expected in the market before the New Year.

The price increase is expected to take effect no later than this week.

The halt in drug shipments by pharmaceutical warehouses has begun to make it difficult for pharmacies to access certain frequently used medications. Pharmacists report that patients are arriving with prescriptions, but sales cannot be made because the drugs cannot be obtained from the warehouses.

Industry representatives say this situation is temporary, but the expectation of price increases has created an effective wait in the supply chain.

THE EXPECTATION OF A 17 PERCENT PRICE INCREASE HAS PUT THE MARKET TO A STANDSTILL.

According to insider information, drug prices are expected to increase by approximately 17 percent.

This price increase, expected to coincide with the period before the New Year, is reportedly causing pharmaceutical wholesalers to be reluctant to supply products at current prices.

While the exact rate of the price increase and its implementation date are expected to be finalized this week, the uncertainty is causing concern for both pharmacists and patients.

The industry is eagerly awaiting the official announcement regarding drug prices. Pharmaceutical warehouses are expected to resume shipments once the price increase rate and effective date are clarified. However, concerns are raised that a prolonged delay could lead to more serious problems with drug supply.

This comes as no surprise whatsoever. My regular pharmacist is becoming embarrassed when she tells me of regular price increases over the past year or more. She frequently complains bitterly when I go in with a Prescription from Surgeon or Doctor when she says they are totally ignorant of what is and isn't available. She then spends ages contacting her wholesalers to find an equivalent by a different name. Those people caring for someone who has a lifelong dependency on certain drugs etc are finding it increasingly difficult to explain to the sick person that they are not being conned or scammed

Yes I was warned of a price increase, unfortunately the doctor then issues a prescription with different names.
Been lucky so far the pharmacist swaps unopened packets and able to supply
