Hi All
Just had a scam message from a friend of ours email address. They have now left Cyprus but the scammer was still using their old Cyprus address.
It is all to do with "Amazon gift vouchers" They are saying they ( our friends) have tried to send an Amazon gift voucher to FRIEND OF THEIRS IN THE UK HOWEVER THEIR CARD DETAILS WERE NOT ACCEPTED. SO THEY ASK US TO SEND IT FOR THEM WITH THE promise TO PAY US BACK LATER, YEAH RIGHT. The grammar is a real give away as it is really very poor English. Please be aware.
I have since been told others, here in Cyprus, have also been sent the same scam message.

Re: scams
We had one last week and so did quite a few others, it was regarding buying from Argos and Air B and B here. Supposedly from a friend who moved back to UK a couple of years ago. The grammar not too good and the odd combination of subject was the real give away. I suspect our UK friend had had her address book cloned.

Re: scams
I wonder if the spoofed senders’ addresses were hotmail (which is now outlook)? There have been a few such phishing emails from both going around recently. On a website I look after I’ve advised those with hotmail or outlook email addresses to change their passwords immediately.

Thanks mowgli, I'm pretty sure they will have done all necessary by now.
