Dual nationals to be denied entry to UK from 25 February unless they have British passport
Don’t know if this may be of interest to anyone. It was sent to me by No 2 son since we have dual nationality (but the second one is Irish and so it doesn’t affect us). I hadn’t heard about it at all.

Is it me being stupid, but if you are a dual national I thought you automatically had two passports.

Some countries (eg India, China, Japan, Spain with exceptions) require you to renounce your original citizenship before granting dual nationality.benjaminbutton wrote: ↑Tue 17 Feb 2026 9:31 amIs it me being stupid, but if you are a dual national I thought you automatically had two passports.

Dual national or not, you have to have a valid British passport before you come into the UK

“Nationality refers to the legal status of belonging to a particular nation, often based on where a person is born, while citizenship is a legal status granted by a government that includes specific rights and responsibilities. Although the terms are sometimes used interchangeably, they have distinct meanings, with citizenship often allowing for participation in political life, such as voting.benjaminbutton wrote: ↑Wed 18 Feb 2026 9:09 amWhat is the difference between nationality and citizenship.
Nationality
Refers to the country where a person is born or holds citizenship.
Often linked to ethnic or racial identity.
Generally cannot be changed; it is an innate status.
Citizenship
A legal status granted by a state, conferring rights and responsibilities.
Can be acquired through various means such as birth, marriage, or naturalization.
Can change; individuals may hold multiple citizenships or renounce them.“
