Changing country on Google
I'm currently residing in the UK for a bit and need to change my "country" on Google to the UK to enable me to download Apps from the Playstore to my Samsung phone and tablet. It is currently listed as Cyprus. I have followed instructions for "how to fix this is not available in your country" but it does not give me the option of choosing another country despite Google giving the impression that it should. Any ideas/advice please?

Re: Changing country on Google
I've finally managed it by adding a UK debit card to my Google account. Once I had done that there was an option to choose UK as my country. Weirdly, I have never added a card before for it to choose Cyprus as my country in the first place.

I've noticed recently that Google are pushing to add a card to your account, it took me ages to get rid of the pop up, as I didn't want to add a card.JoandJelly wrote: ↑Sat 07 Mar 2026 3:53 pmI've finally managed it by adding a UK debit card to my Google account. I checked and mine is set to UK, must have done it a while back when in UK...and it's staying at that, am not mucking about, just in case.

I've never had a pop-up about it and they don't make it easy to work it out.alphamike wrote: ↑Sat 07 Mar 2026 6:12 pmI've noticed recently that Google are pushing to add a card to your account, it took me ages to get rid of the pop up, as I didn't want to add a card.JoandJelly wrote: ↑Sat 07 Mar 2026 3:53 pmI've finally managed it by adding a UK debit card to my Google account. How damned odd that you didn't get bothered with that stupid pop up, when you needed to add UK card, and I did when I didn't want to add one. The ways of Google are beyond me, and I agree, it's sometimes difficult to find what you want to do in the inner workings of things. I know in the past I've had trouble finding out how to change setting account to UK, but I obviously managed it at some point, and it's staying that way.JoandJelly wrote: ↑Mon 16 Mar 2026 11:04 amI've never had a pop-up about it and they don't make it easy to work it out.alphamike wrote: ↑Sat 07 Mar 2026 6:12 pmI've noticed recently that Google are pushing to add a card to your account, it took me ages to get rid of the pop up, as I didn't want to add a card.JoandJelly wrote: ↑Sat 07 Mar 2026 3:53 pmI've finally managed it by adding a UK debit card to my Google account. I'm just not very trusting of Google having my card details stored, or in fact any company. Years ago, had some fraudulent attempts from my Amazon account where I had stored my card, so never again.
