It has been a while since I posted, and I thought this might be useful for anyone planning to relocate to North Cyprus.

Finding a suitable car can easily become one of the more stressful parts of moving. New arrivals may be unfamiliar with local prices, paperwork, insurance, available models, servicing and which cars are best suited to our roads and climate.

A few things worth considering before choosing a car:

- Will replacement parts and servicing be readily available?
- Is the air-conditioning and cooling system suitable for Cyprus summers?
- Is the vehicle economical for everyday use?
- Does it have enough ground clearance for the roads you regularly use?
- Has its mileage and previous history been properly checked?
- If it is a Japanese import, is the original auction documentation available?
- Who will help you after the purchase if the vehicle needs servicing or maintenance?

It is also worth avoiding a rushed purchase simply because your hire-car costs are increasing.
