Where is that, Looseboots.
could i suggest, maybe Horseshoe Bay Kayalar which has a site for BBQing your own stuff or you can buy from them ready made grub. On the sea, a bit rough, but we could take the place over.
Or there is the picnic site on the main Lefkosia Road.
or there are restaurants out at alagadi Beach way, Benoz etc, which we could take over for the day.
Or do people want something more central and civilised.
I am happy to find out about a take over bid, if someone tells me where to go (politely, please).
Other suggestions????
oh and what about cost. What can we all afford!

Hi Soner, having read the beginning of your book, I have formed the opinion that you are a very 'down to earth' person who would like nothing better than to mingle with ordinary people, in an informal setting, as opposed to a stuffy 'posh' place.
Only my opinion, but I think the picnic site on the lefkosa road would be ideal, it would mean that people, like myself, who have no transport, could easily get there by bus.
Marions, you mention costs, if we have a communal picnic, then everyone could bring what food they could afford and not be put off coming by not being able to afford restaurant prices.

Remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

I am happy with that suggestion, or both suggestions. Bring our own, but one word of warning. it isvery popular, so reckn some of us should get here early and grab a large area!
As to soner himself, i would sayhe is a man who is comfortable ywhere ad can mix with royalty and dusmten in equal measure but he is sucha gentleman tat he would be the first to suggest tht the venue has to be the one that the majority choose. SO come on kibkomers, let's have some more ideas/thoughts.

Like the idea of communal BQ.
How would it be co-ordinated, Mangal,Charcoal etc. for ? 20 or more hungry folks.
Meeting up somewhere fairly central. Most local restaurants/cafe/Bars would welcome the custom. A fair number seems to be struggling. There are a few where onsite parking not a problem. as to numbers, count me in.

good. What we really want are suggewstions. As you are the Girne area, can you think of any one in town that would welcome a take over?

Re: Any suggestions for Kibkomer meeting on Sun 8th July
I think it will be difficult to find a venue which will tick all the boxes for most members but we will make every effort to attend no matter what the venue. The picnic area in the mountain pass up from Girne is easily assessible but is often absolutely strewn with rubbish and I doubt anyone would want to be within 100 metres of what passes for the WCs. There is a lovely picnic area up the single track tarmac road which runs to the left of the Buffavento restuarant. There is a 2 lane road to the location (over the brow for a mile then turn left) for anyone who does not like driving on narrow twisting roads and it has stunning views to the plain. The WCs are usually good and on Sundays it is frequented by many very friendly local families with " park rangers" who make a difference to the litter problem. 10 am arrival necessary to ensure a good space !

Marion not the picknic area, please. Benoz, Allagadi, sounds great. I for one would go for a swim later that afternoon.
