Can anyone tell me if the rate of exchange would be better on the mainland, or should I change it here before I go ???
I have a feeling its better in Turkey.

I think it's better here... but the way to hedge your bets is to do half here and half in Turkey... you will always get a mid-price then. Unless of course there is a massive shift in between the two transactions!
As a matter of interest Turkey is now being hailed as one of the MINT nations, set to to become a major economic force with high growth see

When I was in Istanbul earlier in the year I saw the same rate as TRNC. There were however quite a few offering a good few lira lower. I would change in TRNC!
