Which type of Gas is the Bottled Gas sold in North Cyprus?

Is it butane or propane?

As far as I know the answer is YES! I have asked this question for years and never had the true answer. The only thing I can say is that on the big blue bottle it only lists Propane and on the smaller green bottles it lists Propane and Butane.

However, as the gas is sold by the weight of the bottles and as Propane (10Kg) is lighter in the small green bottle than Butane (11.6Kg) and that on my receipts it always shows as the price for 10Kg in the green bottle - I have gone with the obvious answer and guessed that the gas is Propane!!

As far as I am aware most gas burning devices will burn either one anyway and the only real use for Butane is that it burns slightly hotter but then it is better to use Propane in freezing weather conditions. The choice is yours, I have two hot water boilers and one states Propane and the other states Butane - they both work just fine on the Propane gas we get here.
