As much as I am loving the beautiful Turkish food here, there will come a point I feel, in the not too distant future when I will be craving a roast dinner!
I would love to hear your recommendations for a restaurant which serves a good quality roast dinner - made with fresh vege of course

My vote goes to Al Shaheen in Karakum. Good lamb,(don't eat beef) plenty of fresh veg. Not sure of the cost at present, but won't be expensive.

I can second that, the best roast dinner by far. I think we paid 22tl for two courses last Sunday
Roast beef, roast lamb, or chicken. Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and fresh veg cooked to
perfection. The staff are very pleasant and really try to please. Also log fire to keep you warm.

Acmenya for us. Don't know the current price, but last November 3 courses were 20tl. Choice of 3 starters, 3 roasts and a dessert table with a good choice to which you help yourself and tea, coffee and brandy.

My vote goes to Vicki at the Black Olive, and also Punjab on the Lapta Strip.

Vicki's homemade sweets are to die for, and loads of them, if you have the room.

The Crow's Nest in Karmi is very good. They have roast pork on the menu and usually cracknel.

Acmenya still 20tl? Can't see them keeping that price for much longer but it would still be a good deal if it went up a bit, lovely place.

Not tried yet but Melly's bar has been recommended and also entertainment there Sundays.

Lots of people want real beef joint and not processed which lots of indian restaurants seem to serve.

Cengiz is a proper joint and Im told Melly's is.

Well we tried Acmenya yesterday and I have to say it was good. I cannot believe how they provide a meal like that for 20tl. Due to the price I was expecting a sub standard meal and was more curious than anything but I was proved wrong. The soup was delicious, served with hot bread, garlic butter and olives. I opted for beef and there was plenty of it along with a good portion of vegetables, nice and hot. I was only able to manage a piece of baklava and half a chocolate sponge square - both good. All washed down with coffee and brandy too! The staff were very friendly and it was busy too. I would definitely return.
I will also be trying some of the other venues suggested over the next few months.
Thanks guys for all your helpful suggestions.
The only thing that puzzled me with directions was the mention of the Golden Lady. Is that a pub or a statue?

The Golden Lady is the statue at the junction on the main road where you turn left (at Lemar).

Hi Vicki at the Black Olive is the '' Very best roast dinner '' by far we have ever tasted i the 7yrs we have been here. Sorry to add that she is only doing this once or twice a month as its on demand, if the first gets fully booked she offers another date. We were there this last Sunday ad all tables were full word gets about how wonderful they are ! The vegetables are cooked perfect and you get both pork and chicken. The choice of deserts are divine Oh so yummy. , We have tried other places and this tops them all.

It has to be Acmenya, we visited last Sunday and still as good. I too thought the price may have gone up but no, 3 courses which includes help yourself to desert(if you have any room left) and help yourself to the coffee and brandy and still 20tl. Excellent value.
