I/E How long does it take to come back ,How much does it cost, What address do you put on it eg home address here, Who can countersign it, if you need that done.

Where does one aquire the form, & finally who do we take it to in Girne for dispatch.

Thank you all for your time.

Belle i have been looking to get a new one as i lost mine and i contacted the embassy by email they dont deal with passports no more apparently so you have to do it online and pay online with only a uk bank account but what if you dont have one to pay with i was hoping to pay cash at the embassy when i give the forms in but that wont happen now so if any one knows any other ways of doing this from in cyprus i would like some advice

Thanks

Tanyaahmet can't you give someone the cash and ask them to pay on your behalf.. it shouldn't be a problem to do this.

I live in The Netherlands. I recently sent my UK passport off for renewal, as instructed on website. I gave credit card details (not a UK bank one) as instructed, and mailed all info to Durham with recorded delivery which can be tracked online. Received in a few days. They will also deduct costs for return delivery of new passport by courier. The costs are higher than those for a UK resident and applying from UK; all explained in detail.

There is no need for a countersignature on the photo etc. if they can recognise you from previous photo. I assume they do not count greying of hair!

Will let you know when I get it back..but it did say to expect 4 weeks.

Tanyaahmet, I think the British Consul Office in Lefcosia will issue you with a temporary passport to allow you to leave the country at least. Of course if you don't want to leave anyway what is the real need for a passport in your circumstance? Whichever way you go you can guess there will be a fee to pay and that the British Embassy will not be able to help you anyway. You can access the consular office from this side of the Green Line but if the Embassy is in the RoC then you would need a temporary passport to go there - once there you could argue the case with them face to face as and EU citizen on EU soil. May be worth a shot.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

Thank you for your replies, but I am sure that I read on here before that there is a courier service here in Girne that you take it to & they send it for you.

Remember that you can renew your passport several months in advance and have the remaining time added to new passport. For many countries you need a minimum of 3 and some 6 months remaining on passport for immigration to admit you.

With this in mind we will be visiting family later this year and while there will go to passport office and renew it there. Yes there is an additional cost but on enquiry of what others have paid it is not much more than paying for secure mailing to and from UK. I know it is not possible for all but just another option.

Tanya, it is "Mersin 10, Turkey".

Never, ever put "Cyprus".

If you apply from here for your passport it is returned to the British Embassy satellite station on this side. They then phone you to go and collect.
