They are on the march again!!

The processionary caterpillars are on the march, I have seen 3 in my garden and 3 nests in the pine tree.

Thanks for that, will go and check trees tomorrow. One of our dogs bit into one last year (apparently they taste sweet) she lost part of her tongue through necrosis and was back and forth every day to Vets for what seemed like weeks (probably on two really) Her life was saved but a costly episode!!

Yes Sophie, they are very toxic to animals, and should be handled with gloves as they can affect the skin, they should also be burned to destroy them.! try telling my gardener this!!!

Excellent article in Kibkom Times on these nasty caterpillars. The nests are very difficult to spot unless it is very sunny, they also build them in the highest and most inaccessible place. I have just had 4 removed from my fir tree and seen several crawling on the patio, before the dogs spotted them!!
