House Break In in Alsancak

Last night between 7.30 and 9.30pm a holiday home in the Yayla District of Alsancak was broken into. The thief or thieves broke in through a small downstairs loo window. They obviously tried to slide the window open but it was bolted so they smashed out all the glass instead. Took 1200tl and £85 cash. Left all jewellery and other valuables. There have been two teenage boys in the area over the last week pulling a "soap box derby" contraption behind them, who have not been seen before. There is no proof it was them of course, but it would have needed someone lithe and slim to have got through the window which was quite high up. The police have warned the occupiers to try and keep a note of any hire cars acting suspicially because these are being used for driving around and picking out properties and have a more difficult colour plate and longer number to memorise.

Yayla Area of Alsancak (is, to the best of knowledge) all the area on the moutain side of the main road from the rear of Ilelli to roughly Santoria Village Hotel. Its difficult to pin point these old areas exactly. In this case it happened near the top of the road that goes up towards the mountains opposite Sams Place.

Marion, about 200yds from us. Small development of empty houses. Occupants had only been there 5 days and obviously burglars had realised it had become occupied. Police were very good, came within 2 hours and then came again the next morning to get fingerprints, but didn't hold out much hope. At least its a better response than coming to house and just issuing a piece of paper to give to insurance company. Sad thing is, no claim for money on insurance in this case.
