Can anyone please tell me what stamps we need for the Muktah's letter for residency and what stamps we need for when we go to Lefkosa - can you also tell me as we are over 60 do we get our residency the same day or do we have to wait for two or three weeks?

I think its a 10.5 stamp at Lefkosa, you get your residency the same day because you don't do the Police Station procedure. Don't forget to take enough TL for a two year stamp. They sell stamps at the cafe there.

Belkin, Is this your first residency? It may make a difference in when you get it!
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

Belkin .. As you are over 60 you don't need to get your residency .. Ours was due on the 9th March & we didn't renew ..
Today we went to the south .. No problems going ..
Coming back, the paper was stamped & 90 days written on the stamp ..
Don't yet know the implications of this .. If we will have to go south to keep getting 90 days or whether we just forget it ..

Hi all
We have not renewed our residency either and cross the Border often. Some double checking by the staff sometimes but no problems yet.

dekski1 .. Do you get the 90 day written on your stamp each time you cross ?

As Belfast Belle asks .. Does anyone over 60 not having renewed residency, cross without getting 90 days on their stamp ?

I know people over 60 have been to the South and got a 90 day stamp but I would like to know if anyone has not renewed their residency, not gone to the South for a stamp, but left through Ercan many months or a year later without any problems.

A friend recently flew out of Ercan. He had not renewed his residency as he was over 60. Definitely more than 90 days and they made no comment at the airport at all.

What does it mean when the border police write 90 days on the stamp ..
This being our home 24/365 .. We may not go south for over 6 months ..

Hi

How long do you have to leave the country for?
My mother lives in the South and we are sort of thinking of visiting her every 3 months or so for a long weekend, would that suffice or would it be best to apply for residency

Hi Harita,
Yes they squiggle a 90 each time we cross the Border on the exit sheet.

If you dont need a visa when you are over 60 why do you need to get the 90days Doesnt make sense.

Hi dekski1 .. Wonder what will happen if you "stay put" for over the 90 days, and then go south or leave via Ercan ..
