Where can I buy a Skype/VOIP handset / phone over here?

Thought normal handset and mike would work!!!! Wrong.
Has anyone experience where they can be bought and what sort of price should I expect to pay!

Not sure what you mean about having tried a normal handset and mike ?

On my desktop machine I used a headset with a built in mike (something like these http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productli ... subid=1719) and these are readily available here in TRNC at computer shops or even possibly mr pound and you can pay anywhere between a few TL and a couple of hundred pounds for such headsets.

On laptop you can use built in mic and speakers though this is never an optimum experience - I would recommend a headset for this as well.

If you have a smartphone you can use that in conjunction with the Skype app and wifi connection. I use this on my smart phone and with a Bluetooth headpiece as well for hands free 'mobile' Skype calls.

If you want a dedicated handset (either one that plugs into a PC / Laptop or one that works without needing to be plugged into a pc / laptop) then I am not aware on where they can be bought here. There may be shops selling them but I think for the best range of choice and probably price you might be best getting one in the UK and having sent or bought over. Are you talking about the handsets that you can buy direct from Skype and look just like an ordinary BT phone?

I had one of those twice and they didnt work for long went back to head phones

The very reason I enquired D1. I had an expensive dual phone i.e. Skype/land line version brought over here a couple of years back. It was absolutely hopeless, reception was dreadful. I gave it away but it's working perfectly back in the UK I gather.

last time we were in UK we bought a skype phone which plugs into our router not into a laptop. This is working great but not sure if you can buy them here. Ordered our via skype website and had it delivered to an address in UK.

i have just given one to KAR. It is just a plug in to the computer but works fine.
