I am due to get married early next year and trying to sort out the legal stuff.
Once I am married I should change my surname on my UK passport, not got a problem with doing this I will just send it off to the UK with my marriage certificate.
My problem is my work permit will then be in my cancelled passport. Does anyone know if the work permit will still be valid or will I have to get the company to start a new one?
Thanks
change of name on UK passport

Re: change of name on UK passport
Do as message 2 suggests as I only have experience with residency stamps.
My wife did not work but had temporary residency stamps in her passport so when my wife and I married and she wanted to change her name in her passport it was not a problem because her old passport was also returned to her with the old stamps in and all it meant was that for a while she had to to show both passports.

You do not have to use your married name on your passport, it can be left as it is and you will have your marriage certificate to prove that you are m arried.
