Re: Fed up
I think you may need to check your settings Deniz1. My general section is as per usual and sales are where they are meant to be.

Re: Fed up
Isn't that what the 'sales' section is for, they all seem to be in that section.
Personally I think it is excellent that people have somewhere to advertise their things and gives other members the first opportunity to buy them if they want.
Maybe you are too dependent on an internet forum as entertainment?

Re: Fed up
Well I knew I would get some flak. The forum is great and I do have a life away from my computer as some members know. I have no objection to folk selling stuff good luck to them it just seems to take the forum over sometimes. I posted something in the jobs section for a friend it stayed there not on the general forum.

I agree with you - I thought I had clicked onto sales instead of topics

Re: Fed up
If, as I do, you have a link to active topics you see everything that has been posted. It just so happens a lot of people seem to be selling up at the moment so you see all their for sale posts. They are posting under the correct forums. Just ignore it - though maybe the board could do with an exclude option so you can see everything but certain forums such as sales.

Re: Fed up
Many people read the 'New Posts' and of course every for sale item is shown. However, if one goes to the General, there are no for sale items without going to the for sale section.
I read only new posts and I agree there are loads of items for sale, but that is what the forum is for as well as all the other sections which are there for the use of the members (and those who take a peek from time to time).
To exclude the viewing of For Sale means they have no chance of selling.
Of course if people posted lots more subjects, then the for sale would appear less. Personally I find it easier to have a long list of items for sale from any individual, rather than individual postings cos I switch off, but then we are not all the same so I guess Loose Boots is trying a strategy that works.

Re: Fed up
I wouldnt mind if the For Sale posts made it clear what they are: some are teasers just to make you waste time going into a post you are not interested in and are counter productive for those who dont want or cant afford the item. Perhaps we could have a gentleman's (and woman's!)agreement that any post on the main board about sales should start " Sale of ................." and any post about dogs and cats should start "Ref Animals". Presumably it would also make it easier for the Mods to transfer them after a reasonable period of time, as presently there seems to be no consistency about transfers.

Re: Fed up
I thought the point of having a sales forum is to sell items - regardless of how many posts you put up. If people are clearing their houses and wish to sell their belongings then surely they have the freedom to post as and when things become available for sale.
I think Looseboots is a great seller as are all the others out there who have a continuous stream of posts with items for sale. It could very well be that if you are not looking for anything in particular and something for sale catches your eye then great - everyone's a winner.

Re: Fed up
Toftsv, quite agree and with the amount that Looseboots has sold on the forum I bet that Soner is well pleased with the donations after selling!

Re: Fed up
The point is Deniz1 - the fault lies with the view of board activity you select.... If you select "View unanswered posts • View unread posts • View new posts • View active topics" you will get a lot of things from sections you are not wanting to see by the sound of it... So don't have those as your shortcut... It's quite simple if you only want to see threads on the main forum general page when you enter the site use this view:- http://www.kibkomnorthcyprusforum.com/viewforum.php?f=8

Re: Fed up
Thanks Groucho - that's the answer to the problem. If members prefer using the other links then switch back once Looseboots has left the island.

Re: Fed up
Why is LooseBoots being singled out? Is he breaking the rules by putting for sale items in the general section. No.
So lighten up and get a life folks.
Have a great time in Panama LooseBoots, I for 1 will miss you.
