The trouble out here is that there are so many unnueutered bitches, that a dog will scent her and go. It's possible that is what happened but I do hope he returns. Good luck.

Genghis Didn't Make It

Just to round off.
I've been fortunate to have had the company and shared affection with four Springers. Nearly 50 years. Wonderful dogs.
I collected Genghis today - all my black and white Springers were called Genghis. This one G3.
The vet staff seemed more upset than I. I doubt whether they lose many patients. G3 lacked for nothing - the Professor flew over from Turkey to carry out the op.
The op, which involved attaching a plate to his rear leg, was apparently successful and they were just finishing off taking an Xray when he stopped breathing. They spent 30 minutes trying to revive him but he was gone.
I've put him into his final bed now, safe in the knowledge that he won't end up on some tip.
I was lucky to be introduced to Tess when G3 first disappeared. She looks a bit like a Spaniel but I think she's more Pointer. Not very obedient but good company. It does mean there is no great sense of emptiness on the loss of G3 but I do miss him. Born in Wales and driven out here as soon as his Rabies documentation came through. When you've known a dog from pup days he stays with you as a friend.
Thank you all for your kind thoughts.

So sad to read your heart-breaking account of G3. If there is any solace in my post for you, be assured you have confirmed and restored my faith in humanity. You and G3 were an obvious bond of the strongest and most devout type and deserved each other. We have 2 rescue dogs here. I will use your example as my yardstick should anything happen to them. Thank you so very much.
