Fickle post

You would think after 4 years I would be used to the reliability / unreliability of the post.

Today we had 3 letters received, 2 to our local post office in Ozankoy village and one in our post office box in Girne.

1 letter was dated 1st August................so a month and 20 days to arrive.

1 took 3 weeks to the day.

The 3rd from a UK credit card company ..........7 days.............

ah well, look on the bright side LB, at least you received them eventually.

That's exactly why we got a post box on the South side, nothing, and I mean nothing has got "lost", even packages, presents, stuff off e bay, well pleased.

I got a Christmas card posted 14th December 2012 in UK arrived Ozankoy mail box 25th May2013 any advance??

How do you obtain a post office box on the South, is there any problem with living over here.

It's very easy indeed. If you know Ledra street, walk up the street with Debenhams on your left, walk to the top of the street, turn left you will see the main post office on your right.

There is an English speaking lady there she gives you a small form to complete, no problem if you live on the North. She prefers you not to write the village you live in for obvious reasons, we put Lefkosa as our residence. It costs 40 euro a year, don't forget to take your passport of course for ID which you will have with anyway.

They have literally hundreds of boxes at the Post Office, if you are expecting a package they leave a note in your box, you go inside and collect it.
