Suggest you go on their website and click on the icon whereby you can speak to a "person" rather than the Q and A bit.

I had problems at the weekend. Online support was off so text my speeds to them. 20 minutes later all was ok again.

Looks to me like you simply have a fault. An overloading of the system would give gradually slower speeds.

Totally disagree with Jonnie. We have misguidedly been with Multimax/NTV for over a year - all the time hoping the reception would improve.
The technicians come, fiddle about with the equipment and reception improves for 2/3 days then reverts to buffering, freezing, file missing, no picture at all etc.
The last ten days have been appalling. On monday we had no internet or TV until 9pm. It came on and the picture was ok - just a few tremors. Yesterday it was as bad as ever and our internet signal was down to just 2 bars.
The daytime picture is reasonable but from 4pm onwards it deteriorates badly - the time when many more people are watching TV - so logically the volume of demand seems to effect the signal, which is obviously too weak to support the number of people viewing NTV. Ergo the broadband signal need to be stronger

The technicians came as I said 4 times in the 1st 2 weeks of our subscription and changed the router everytime and it worked for about 1/2 day. If the problem is the signal howcome my neighbours signal and service is so good ?

There is obviously a lot of people here who has an idea and think they know whats going on at Multimax system better than we do. The fact that we have more than 100 years of combined wireless technology and networking experience does not seem to matter. If anyone is interested real reason behind some of the issues we are experiencing, you can email me at
kbasat@multimaxcyprus.com (I am slow at replying as very busy, but I will get back to you)
Multimax is currently going through phases, with massive improvements being planned for Girne area in the next few months.
Official announcement regarding current situation and planned improvements will also be published on our website in the next few days for those who are interested.

Muffin. My problems are almost the same as yours and i also totally disagree with johnnie and i am not internet techie but i can see when the problems start and it is more often than not around the same time.
Now i can open up my pc at 2am in the morning like i did this morning and it is like my internet is on amphetamine it is so fast, trouble is im not an owl or a bat that sleeps in the day and awake all night,i need good internet in daylight hours which i do get sometimes Sometimes !
So from reading kbsaat reply it sounds like your going to be upgrading the system around girne which will then make all our problems go away ? In the next few months.
So in the meantime we should just still pay our subscriptions full price and make do with the lesser speeds we are not subscribed too and not bother about the current poor quality of internet and just persevere until you get it right ?
And just for the record here is another speed test done on the Multimax website with date and time included. I have been trying to post if for a few mins now but my page keeps going blank and timing out because of the lack of internet that i am paying for ! And i am trying to contact you online ! Hurray i managed to add a file at last, took me about 6 mins !
Seems you got a fan club tonight !

Just out of interest the engineers who first came didn't sell you two small gadgets which you plug in to the electrical sockets did they? I had them and my TV reception was shocking until I took them out, works great now, they were the problem. Have hired wired my cable in now much better.

I gave up a few hours ago as my internet was so slow i could not do the work i needed too and thought i would leave it a few hours and try again.
You guessed it.
Does any one have any ideas about the internet,i thought it may be the wind,no wind tonight,i thought it might be the sun,no sun at 20.40,i thought it might be the rain,no rain this evening, multimax said they got 100 years experience between them, but yet my internet is still not correct and i am not getting no where near what i am paying for.
SOS. SOS. Can any one help
Below is my 3rd speed test as the other 2 did not work . All i want is what i am paying for, nothing more or less, can you imagine going to the local butchers and asking and paying for 1kg of fillet and he gives you 1/4kg and says thank you,240tl please !!

This is my speed test which I think is excellent. We do have general freezing, missing files pages, blanks screens at times though. I am sure Multimax are doing all they can to sort out any problems. They have always been most helpful and efficient too when we have needed assistance.

Actually it is more like buying a car with an advertised top speed of 160 mph and then discovering your actual average speed on a particular given journey is 45mph and being convinced you are not getting what you have paid for as a result.
This is true of all home internet provision everywhere in the world. If you do not believe me try looking at the Ofcom reports on internet access in the UK. To pluck one stat from their March 13th 2013 report, of customers on virgin media's 'upto' 30mbs service 75% were getting less than 90% of their maximum speed in peak hours, for example.
Now do not get me wrong. I am not saying you do not have an issue. If the speed tests you are posting here are being conducted properly then clearly you do have an issue at certain times and Multimax will get it sorted. Once we have got it sorted we will look at the issue of some kind of compensation as well I am sure. Posting here constantly will not actually shorten the time it takes to get it sorted.
What I am saying however is that it is simply unrealistic to expect an up to 4mbs home internet connection to deliver 4mbs or more 24/7 365 days a year just as it is unrealistic to expect a car with a top speed of 160mph to deliver that as an average speed on every journey made with that car.

Again I am not trying to dismiss the issues you are experiencing and provided you have reported them to MM via any of the many channels by which you can do so they will get sorted in due course.
However I do think it is relevant here to point out what the 'signal bars' shown on a device like a laptop actualy show and what they do not show as this is commonly misunderstood by people. The bars showing signal strength on say a windows laptop show the strength of the wifi connection from that laptop to the wifi access point (usually called a router) inside your house and nothing more. They say nothing about the connection into the house / router from outside the house. It is perfectly conceivable that the internet connection into the house is working perfectly but the connection from the wifi router in the house to that device is not working optimally for any number of possible reasons, nearly all of which are outside of MM's direct control resulting in a perception that the 'internet' is not working properly. It is relatively easy to establish if your issues are being caused by the distribution of internet wirelessly inside your house from your router (wifi access point) to various devices and not by the internet connection into the house from outside by testing with a wired link. If your speeds are fine when on a wired link but troublesome when on wireless then the problem is between the wifi router in your house and the devices that connect to it and not with the internet connection coming into the house from outside it.

And up pops the spin doctor !
This is the worse example i have ever ever heard in my whole life (Actually it is more like buying a car with an advertised top speed of 160 mph and then discovering your actual average speed on a particular given journey is 45mph and being convinced you are not getting what you have paid for as a result.) Of course if i travelled 1/4 mile
in the center of london then my speed would have to be 45mph,that would be my choice to take notice of the speed limits, knowing me i may not take notice of the speed limits, rules where made to be broken !
In this scenario i have no option or choice as the internet is only going 1 speed and that is slow. Please please Mr spin,if your being recruited to add some waffle or spin make sure it is good and try not to insult our intelligences .
We are not lucky enough to have internet the same as a car that we can push an accelerator and the internet goes faster for us just as it does in a 160 mph car !
Anyway now my internet is great again as it is after 8,sorry them are chocolates,i meant after 00.00 !
So now i shall try and do the work i should of done today in my working hours and what i pay for the internet for.
Thanks for the spin by the way..NOT
Thanks for the explanation Erol

You may consider it spin but it was simply an effort to explain. The analogy may not have been the best but it was an honest attempt.
The point remains the same. Expecting to get 4mbs or more all the time on an 'up to' 4mbs home internet connection is not realistic. Comparing an 'up to' 4mbs service with buying 1kg of fillet as you did is not an appropriate comparison at all. This is not spin it is just plain fact. You may feel that any time you get less than 4mbs on your service you are being cheated but it does not change the realities at all.
If Tescos sold 1kg of fillet to its customers but actually gave 75% of them 90% and less than 1kg they would be prosecuted. Yet the regulator for internet in the UK measured one major providers service as doing just that and not a hint of prosecution. Why do you think that is if your comparison with buying fillet in the butchers is valid ? The simple point I was making was your analogy was and is flawed. My analogy may not be prefect itself but you started it with your own flawed and pejorative analogy. Despite what you may think and feel we actually work very hard at MM to deliver the best service we can to as many people as we can as much of the time as we can. We are far from perfect but we are not cheats or crooks or conmen.

There is no regulation in TRNC ! Erol thanks for the honest explanation !!
Just to let you know i did try to contact the live call centre and i waited over 6 hours for a reply, look below
No one has insinuated you are crooks or conmen that could well be a guilty conscience, although im not sure ! It would be nice to know the truth of the bones as to what is the problem and then we the customer can make a calculated decision on what to do ourself. I understand it may be chicken and egg syndrome and until you get more money into the coffers you cannot renew some thing that may need updating ,so tell us that and maybe we can be more patient with the system ?

why should we have to email MM to find out the real reason behind some of the issues were experiencing, here is the forum that is good to air the truths and save every one a lot of time including MM if he writes the reasons here and not having to reply to several hundred emails !!! Surely that would make sense ?

Message from MM:
As far as we have issues with a limited number of customers those issues are actually 5% to do with needed network upgrades, which will be in place by the 1st of October. Our real issue at the moment is a break down in our support systems caused partly by our relocation of our head office causing too long a delay between people reporting issue and action being taken. We are addressing this and seeking to rectify it as quickly as we can , taking on more support staff and revamping and re-organising our entire back end support systems and staff.
