In need of an old fashioned hair stylist

The reason I am posting this question is because Neil Anthony has now left.
Can anyone recommend any good hairdresser in Girne who will have experience of 40s and 50s styles and who will have spent hours practising back-combing as part of their training?
It's probably going to be a more 'mature' person!
Thanks for suggestions.

Or gamze in lapta village near the petrol station.
Don't ask the trainee girls though, but gamze is very good.
She also did my hair for my wedding day.
You can find her on Facebook aswell.

I don't know about lots of back combing in the 40's and 50's but I had a terrific "bee hive" in the 60's. I'd like to find a haridresser that knows how to style by putting in large rollers and doesn't rely on burning my scalp using a red hot blow dry and doesn't pull my hair out by the roots in the process.

Thanks for replies.
Yes, Sophie, that's definitely what's needed! My enquiry was for my mum, she doesn't have a bee hive but her style is of 40s era and the best sort of hairdresser that's going to be able to do it is someone who trained in UK a long time ago and probably had to do lots of back combing and setting in rollers. This style requires an artist (a proper old-fashioned tradesman!) and I am yet to find someone who can do it!
If they're not 'old school' they won't know where to start with this one!

pippie, I actually left one hairdresser on principal because I once asked if I could have my hair styled, for a change, on very large rollers to give it height and "bounce". The answer was "we don't have any rollers". Why don't you have a word with Nultan (I think that's her name) She is supposed to train new hairdresers to high NVQ standards and i would have thought that rollers would be one of the methods taught to her trainees.

I used to look after a lovely old lady in her 90s who liked her ''shampoo and set, in the old fashioned way''
This I did for her every friday.
I don't know if they still have them but I bought big and small rollers at Mr Pound.

pippie, actually I have loads of rollers of different sizes myself BUT what I wanted was someone else to do it for me so i could sit and let someone else do the work for a change. It was the fact that a hairdresser didn't have or know anything about rollers which annoyed me. If Mr Pound doesn't have anything, you're more than welcome to borrow mine for your Mum if you want to.

Thanks Sophie, that's very kind of you. Actually I do have rollers (which I never use incidentally!) but there is no way that my mum would let me loose on her hair. After my sister qualified she trained with my mum's previous stylist for some time and I remember her spending hours practising on dummy heads setting in rollers, back combing and then putting up the hair in to the style my mum still has today (30 years later). When she goes on holiday we can never find anyone who can do the same style so she often just waits out the weeks until she can get back home to get it washed and set again with my sister (yes, it does last up to 5 weeks, but 6 and it's time to come down!!). Neil Anthony used to set it for her in a nice style that wasn't too bad and that could last a couple of weeks. May be we'll have to have a drive around a few hairdressers to show them what it should look like and see what their reaction is. Nulten might be worth a try.

You can usually tell if a hairdresser can't or won't use rollers, because you can't see a "proper" dryer than you can sit under and catch up on Hello! Actually I think Marion could be correct about Bonita, I used to go there but it was the parking that eventually put me off. Not posh and swish like a lot of them but she does the hair of people of a certain age.

Yes and she has rollers I have seen them in use. And she does the hair of some very wlel known older Cypriot women. Why not havce a word with her (and the others). And yes parking is a b...... but I always manage to get on the pavement. I vowed if it ever happened that I could not, I would consider being unfaithful. But her hairdressing angel seems to make sure that does not happen! Been going to her for about 12 years, so....
