Is there any venue that plays modern chart music

There are so many threads about 60`s music, rock anthems/country and trips down memory lane music but are there any venues / DJ`S that play songs / artists that are in this century.

I appreciate there are a number of people of the OLDER generation that live here or are visiting but surely even they would like to listen to some modern tunes.

I embrace all genres of music but it`s all the same here, or so it seems.

This is not an invite for world war 3 but would be interested in members opinions.

Thank you.

The place to go if you want upto date music is bar 8.8 in lapta or funky beach bar.
Try them.
I totally agree with you that everything the same in entertainment but they all try as only a small island and its the costs of different entertainments aswell.
I get fed up with karaoke everywhere but they have to think of the majority that like it more.
End of the day there ain't alot of younger people here, more retired and they keep it simple to their liking in entertĂ inment like bingo, quiz, 60's 70's 80's , karaoke, etc etc.
And the bars that are keeping the locals happy especially winter is most important for custom to keep their business's running to pay lots different things also.

just give Karaoke bars a big swerve and go to places that have young people in them and are not filled with older folks esp Ex Pats ( not that all of them are old but mostly are) - there are so many fun places !!! Talk to the young Cyps - they love Chart music too you know. you will be deilighted with what you find on your path of discovery! have you tried Shabooms in Alsancak - or Red Square bar Alsancak? good starting points for you.

Try Ice and the club next door, or Shayna on a Saturday night, my son (25) enjoyed all three earlier this year. as stated a majority of us are that bit older and prefer to listen to the "usual" 60s, 70s and 80s

Ice is good but mainly Turkish pop in there or a little bit of both, or try some of the discos in town like night park etc.
But these discos play great music but bit pricey for entry and drinks

I don't know how OLD you are BUT

Bobby Sands Plays music from 1940 to 2013

You can see him at Sh-booms on a Friday

Although he is booked as Karaoke/Disco

He will play anything you ask for, and he will have it.

Being the grand young age of 61 , Personally, yes I like 60`s 70` 80`s 90`s music but NOT all the time. I enjoy chart music, much to the annoyance of my son.

So because it seems to be the same old same old we go where there is no music.

In fact sometimes the supermarkets play better music. IMHO

OMG just look at these replies how funny are they ? Chart music by Bobbie Sands ha ha brilliant, Looseboots TRNC's very own Forrest Gump, steer clear from their music advise. You may need to travel to Lefkosa to find what you are looking for but think Shayna and Tango To Buddha may be best locally, good luck and still laughing at the Bobby Sands suggestion, thank you for the laugh, and sorry if any offence none meant. Sal

Well as Forrest Gump would say, life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get. Just like the replies on here

Well they must be because he spent all night staring at them didn't look up once, for all he knew, we had gone home and he was singing to empty spaces. Sal

OK White flag.

I realise whatever we say about music tastes there will be differences of opinion. As long as bars and restaurants realise we like a mix. Heck you get better music sometimes in Supreme and such like.

I get told I spend too much time in supermarkets as it is........................
