Another question about car hire in the south
I am just wondering if anyone has had any problems when hiring a car in the south and taking it to the north. I am a little apprehensive about the third party only insurance issue. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

It is a chance you take Janey. When we take our North side registered cars to the South they are only insured 3rd party, even though w they might be insurance fully comp when in North Cyprus. We have had many visitors who have come via Larnaca with a Southside hire car and never any problem for them.

The only thing I would say is be clear with the hirer in advance that you do intend to take the car across the Green Line. Some do not allow this, so if you do you are in breach of your hire agreement.
Others will let you take the car across if you buy the insurance at the crossing point. Of course the insurance you buy is third party only in the North. I feel its a chance worth taking for the ability to drive anywhere in the island while your there.
I've always hired with Fontana: http://www.cyprus-car.com/ and never had any problems, and friends in the TRNC have also suggested Car Hire 3000: http://www.carhire3000.com/. I suggest you try these first.
