You have beaten me to it, as I was going to post this.l Could I just say that this is a veryneedy case. I know who the lady is, and she is most deserving o f help, so if anyone has crutches or knows of anyone who does. The lady is question is as poor as a church mouse (if there is such an expression in Turkish)

Hey don't apologise. I should have done it before, so I am glad you started the ball rolling. I do hope there are some for the lady. I have also made enquiries elsewhere. That family have had a tough run of it, and it is solely due toloving hearts that their lives have been made bearable. I do so hope there are some crutches available for her soon.

My other half, who works in the Heartbeat Cancer Shop just behind the hospital in Kyrenia knows there is a pair in the shop. If someone would like to go tomorrow and speak to Mehmet and explain the situation, she is sure he will help but she will be in the shop Thursday and Friday if they cannot get in before.

Thanks for that. I will try to have a word with Mehmet or Angela and have them ear-marked. But I suggest the message quickly gets passed back to the person who wants them.

I do hope this is a solution, as it just shows how useful KibKom is . And also what a great community we are! Innit!

Hooray. I have in my car a set of almost brand newlightweight crutches, given to me by the lovely Phil of K5 group. She used them for a while and is now happy to give them to Ayshe. So please someone tell me where I have to take these crutches. I am happy to take them wherever needed or hand over to someone. So come on talk to me. I know I have a phone number somewhere but cannot find it, so please contact me by p.m. e mail or on the board.

I'm pleased to hear the lady has been sorted out with some crutches, having recently broken my leg I can sympathise with her.

If it is of use to anyone else in a similar situation I was able to borrow a pair of crutches from the Cheshire Homes near Bellapais, all they ask if for a donation to go towards their homes running costs.

Unfortunately Ayshe was unable to use the crutches so kindly given to us. These are things she has to use continuosly and had wooden ones before that broke, and as I said leaving her house bound. She did try but she has to put her full weight on them and didnt feel safe or confident. So still looking on her behalf but now the path has narrowed as they have to be the wooden ones that go under the arms. Thanks to all who have shown interest.

What a shame for the lady not to be able to use the crutches. Crutches do take some getting used to and need to be at the correct height to be used safely. Plus it is darn near impossible to carry anything safely.

Has anyone enquired if they are for sale anywhere? or could her old ones be fixed? I'd be happy to donate something towards them.

I do feel she should be persuaded to try the ones given to her. They are lightweight but that does not mean they arenot to be trusted. They ARE strong, and I think she should not have put up a mental blockage which she did. Just my opinion.;l

However, two things. Firstly , could I have them returned so that some other needy soul could use them. And secondly, I have been offered a pair of the old fashioned ones as Ayshe used (I have a photo of her with her old ones), and they would be on semi permanent loan. If these are wanted, someone let me know and I will organize.

No, I never got an e mail. Wonder where yu sent it and where it went. It certainly hasn'[t landed in my computer@!

~Agree with you re usage, but I honeslty think those light weight ones would be vastly superior for the lady, but..........

As to collecting form me, I first have to collect them form the person who offered, so doubt I can get them for tomorrow or Thursday. Will letyou know when I have them , unless we can come up with something else.

Just as I thought we were making great progress,s but we are getting there!

Just to let everyone know, this has been a happy ending, Thanks to Marion and a friend, Ayshe is now in procession of wooden crutches. She ventured out to her neighbours house, first time in 2 weeks. Not any easy task at the best of times rough ground and steps, but determine to show her thanks for her freedom. Thanks to you all for showing interest and those of you that tried to help.
