We just finished restoration of quarry tiles floors in house in Karmi. The target was to clean it of paint marks and sealant and bring it back to the original look.
We went on with the machine and hand washing with Stone Soap, also brushing with white spirit using metal wool. Some of the individual tiles we worked on for at least 20 minutes each. The machine weight is 55 kg and was equipped with very abrasive pads. Previously just by using the machine we managed to clean really bad and hopeless floors but not in this case. We spent 3 working days for the area of approximately 110 sq. meters. Finally we managed and the customer is happy.
We suggest not to use sealant for any kinds of tiles in interior. Sealant is primarily designed for protection of the exterior stone or concrete surfaces from water. Sealant will go deep in the material and after a few years will change the color of tiles to grey and make it look dirty even though the floors are perfectly clean.
In case of marble or travertine we can grind the floors to remove sealant completely. This is a quite time consuming process. But in case of quarry tiles or lime (flag) stones grinding is not possible as the floors are not even.
To protect your floors and make the maintenance easy we suggest Stone Soap which is specially designed and very easy to work with. Also the price of Stone Soap is cheaper compared to Dieterman S commonly used sealant.
