There is a prowler about a customer told us today a young man got into her house stripped off and got into her bed and tried to have sex. Her husband was downstairs! She screamed and he ran off. The police said it has happened a few times in Catalkoy Dogankoy and Ozankoy. there was money on the bedside table but he didnt take any. Keep doors and windows locked girls please.

Lets hope the police catch him soon

He mostly targets single women he slipped up this time. I hope they find him quickly.

After this announcement, police noticed some houses have all doors and windows open and some even had cake and cookies left on the porch...

He actually stripped off and got into her bed when she woke up there he was. She is still very distressed.

Anyone who leaves doors and windows open at any time of day needs their head read!!!! Also I hope they catch this dangerous nutter ASAP. Horrific crimes do happen on this island and anyone who thinks they don't is living in cloud cuckoo land!!!!! So why encourage criminals by having your house so insecure!?

I agree it is very serious, but if you have animals it is difficult to keep the doors closed all the time!

Ailsa, I live in a small studio with a barred window in the kitchen area, this is open at all times for my 2 cats to come and go and is secure.

I have my front door open in the 'living area' of my studio, not because I live in cloud cuckoo land but, in common with most humans, I need light and ventilation and, as there is no window there, this is my only source.

Why should we be imprisoned while this pervert is allowed to wander free? And if the police are aware that this has happened, why have we not been warned to be on our guard? And, are they taking it seriously, after all it is only a man following his instincts. Sorry, but that seems to be their attitude.

As I said before, I hope he walks into my place, he won't walk out.

I cannot say too much as some information is from 'the horse's mouth' and some is coffee shop gossip but, apparently, the police have an arrest warrant for the suspect.

Apparently, he is english and lives in Ozankoy and has been, or will be, arrested tonight.

Lets hope so! I must say the police are pretty good at catching the baddies.

Let's hope he doesn't read this board then!

I am waiting with baited breath-The 'Nudey British Sex Offender' was due to be arrested last Thursday.

The lady who was assaulted said he was not english but turkish and he tried it with some one else again a few days ago in Ozankoy. Dont know if he has been arrested.

I was referring to 'Blue Butterflys' post(msg 13) which contained the comments that the 'perp' was British, and being arrested that very evening.

I must admit I was sceptical that it wasn't a 'Brit' having lived here for a couple of years and realised that I am probably one of the youngest retirees in Ozankoy by quite a margin.

The concept of any of the male expats that I have met in Ozankoy evading the husband downstairs,racing up the stairs,'Ragging off' and becoming aroused enough to attempt any sort of sexual activity, is frankly difficult to believe.

For Gods sake,most of them walk with sticks,and struggle to raise a smile,let alone anything else-and as for going upstairs at speed, well that is just not happening ,unless of course Stannah chairlifts were an accomplice.

APPARENTLY. The young brit in Ozankoy was arrested, questioned and released without charge.

APPARENTLY. Recently, a woman in Catalkoy gave the police a description of a burglar she had disturbed in her home.

On Monday afternoon a british woman in Ozankoy who had disturbed a burglar was shown the photofit copy of the Catalkoy burglar and said it was the same person.

A 16/17 years old turkish male has been arrested.

Most of this is coffee shop gossip but, as Marions once said, sometimes there is a lot of truth in it.

Absoloutly hilarious last post Philoz, started my day with a smile.

Came home this evening from Lefkosa about 5:30, so dark. Hubby was driving home after me as we had collected the car after repair at garage in Lefkosa.
When I arrived home I let two of the dogs out, third one stayed in for a fuss. I suddenly heard the other two barking frantically and then one yelping as if hurt. Went to the end of the terrace and saw that the dogs had cornered a man. Said who are you? What do you want? No reply. Afraid I left the dogs to it, went inside, locked the doors and phoned hubby to see where he was. Fortunately he was near and could hear the dogs barking.
When he got home and searched the plot, which is hidden away and dark but visible from the village, there was no sign of anyone. We have beware of the dog and please close the gate signs on the gate. Clearly he closed the gate but forgot to be aware of the dogs!
Anyway for the first time in seven years I felt alarmed in my own home.
If it was a gardener looking for work I feel sure he would have answered me, as he didn't I felt that as he was uninvited in my garden which clearly has warnings of dogs then he deserved to be scared by the dogs.
The only other worrying thought on these dark evenings is that someone had spotted that both cars were out and was being opportunistic or am I being paranoid?

It worries me too as I live alone and have no neighbours near.

I have been out of the country for a few weeks. Has any of this been reported anywhere other than here. Seems to me some panic has arisen because pretty vague reports and some other perhaps unconnected incidents.

Living here is pretty good from a crime point of view, spend a couple of weeks with dark evenings in the UK when you are cautious to get money from a cash machine, burglaries are not reported in the press because they are so commonplace and shadowed by more serious crime. Lets keep it in perspective!

I agree that we should try to keep things in perspective and not panic, but one such incident is one too many in my book and ladies who live alone, especially, (and please do not advertise that on this or any other forum) need to be aware. I don't think that is wrong.

Jonnie it has been reported in Cyprus today.
Having spoken to my TC neighbour this morning he said has been finding footprints in his flower beds under his windows for several days now. He has been clearing them and monitoring the situation and having heard about our prowler last night he is now calling the police and installing security lights.
I do not imply that this is the sex prowler so perhaps I should have started another thread. In fact I will start another thread to warn people that someone is out and about after dark in places where he shouldn't be.

What's the latest on this please?

Not sure what the latest on the sex prowler is but here in Catalkoy police have been informed of recent incidents of prowlers and security measures are being enhanced.

Any further news?
