Lemar Promotions

I went into Lemar in Karaoglanoglu 3 days ago and saw an offer on for Ryvita, there were 3 different varities and if you paid for one, you got one free.

Having thoroughly enjoyed the ones with the fruit in I thought that today I would go back and buy some more before the offer finished and as I was near the Lemar in Karakum, I popped in only to find no offers at all.

A little later I needed to go to Karaoglanoglu to the bank so I thought I would just see 'in case' these were still on offer at the Lemar in Karaoglanoglu and lo and behold I walked away having purchasing 3 double packs - yes the offer was on in this store.

Why don't Lemar offer the same promotions in all their stores at the same time?

Absolutely crazy, poor marketing and anything else you can think of!

However, are we surprised? Well, no not really and yes I got the Cyprus shrug when I asked about it.

Maybe they had sold out and not restocked the shelves. Other markets have the same offer.

Suspect that each individual supermarket has its allocation of promotional items. Once they have sold out - they are gone, hence the stock variation from branch to branch

Ever since we've been here Lemar have followed the policy of rotating specail offers. You will also notice that the importers will do the same from time to time i.e. there will be a special offer at Tempo for a couple of weeks, then it will move on to Starlings etc. If there is something you want its just a case of finding out where the offer has moved to.

Got to agree with sophie and muffin, special offers are subject to availability and not always at all stores in the group.
I remember when Lemar opened in Alsancak prices were far lower than Karalanoglo (spellin).
On this issue got to say squashmad is being a little harsh especially with the "Cyprus shrug", unless he/she speaks Turkish fluently the staff probably had no clue what was being discussed as they are only aware of what is happening in own branch.

I have had this problem before when the same stock is in both shops but at different prices - very strange.

I think Sophie is right (except when shops are offloading things near the sell by date) it may be down to the importers, and deliveries are probably not as quick and regular to N. Cyprus and there may be quotas and it is not always possible to guage the demand from a particular store or branch. Was a time when very few shops sold imported foodstuffs (let alone gave offers) so think youself lucky you can now get them at all and accept it as part of the lifestyle of living abroad.. Since shopping round, apart from the time, probably costs as much in petrol than is saved, I have found the best policy is if I see something I need or really want at a good price, subject to storage time I grab it while I can, even if it means doing without someting else and changing menus - adds variety to life.

Thank you Sophie and everyone else,

I have not been on line for a few days and just read the other posts.

What I failed to mention in my first post was that the shelves were stuffed stock of this item in both stores this is why I mentioned it.

I guess I rather foolishly expected that if one Lemar was running a promotion then all the Lemar's would running the same one - silly me for even considering this.

I will just put this down to one of the anomolies of living in Cyprus
