Coast guard and radio are warning of storm force winds and 15mtr waves starting tonight. People living close to the sea are especially warned to leave if possible. Girne area is expected to be the worst hit. The boat owners in the old harbour are frantically tying down the boats. Lets hope the forecast is wrong.Take care all.

Giving out on BRT 1 and 2 even BBC world weather mentioned the high winds. Plus there will be snow on high ground. Buckle down for 2/3 days.

And please switch off anything unnecessary that uses a lot of electricity everyone will be using a lot of heating and there is likely to overload the system. I only wish the authorities would set an example by switching off the dazzling signs etc. that have been the subject of complaint on another thread.

At moment so much snow coming down in Istanbul stopped the match at galatasoray within 7 minutes could not see pitch.

I hope they were wrong.No wind yet.

At Esentepe we have had strong winds since around 4am and still continuing with a bit of rain in the mix. We locked down our garden furniture last night thanks to Deniz1's warning.

Sleet in Camlibel at the moment. Have great view of mountain and cloud movement. The tall pines are really being buffeted, if they come down hope it is away from the villa! How are folk doing on the coast? Hope everyone stays warm and dry.

7 degrees in Ozankoy,BRRR Roll on Summer

7c here in Alsancak!New logburner working overtime!

We have no WIND here in UK, weather is rather benign . Fog and a heady 10 C temperature.

News bulletin just said we will get the BIG wind tonight.

Electricity off all morning in central Ozankoy and men working on poles - makes the electricity bills less painful when you think what THAT must be like - except I dont suppose its them get the cream! Do check your alternative sources of heat and light, and check any less active friends and neighbours are coping OK.

Well winds getting stronger here Alsancak/Karaoglanoglu border, we seem to have a problem now with our power, front house no electric whatsoever, back of house fully working, welcome to Cyprus, hopefully kibtek will come out and fix the problem as promised!

Been waiting for five months for them to fix the street lights so good luck with the front half of your house. Buy another torch and pray lots.....

Are you saying part of your house has electricity?

Yes Jonnie I am, my neighbour fortunately had seen the pylon that supplies the electric really spark just before it happened and she had the same problem, being turkish she could phone kibtek and not be fobbed off. but cannot believe it Kibtek actually have been out to sort it and we have a whole house of electric now, I am so shocked, would still be waiting even in England, well done to them and of course my neigbour!!!

Well the gale force winds have stopped
And looks abit clearer, also over toeards turkey side and the sea.
Maybe rain will come? Or still too cold?

It looked very clear over the Toros mountains and all that snow, well they can keep it!!

It was lightly snowing (not sleet) when we were at Erulku and when we drove over the mountain by five fingers/buffovento this afternoon.
