As I Understand, the only helicopters allowed to fly here are military? There were certainly a number of emergency vehicles on the scene quite promptly.

There was a small helicopter flying over the mountains and then much lower down near us at about 11.00a.m. It seemed to be following the high tension power cable.

And this one was also spraying something ... insecticide ... it was doing a job for the Forestry Commission.

Fortunately the pılot was not seriously injured.

Hi Owl Lady,
There are ways, but having lived in Turkey for many years, I'm fortunate enough to understand the Turkish in most reports.

Owl Lady, I am telling you ... I use a program that comes with my brain ... called memory

But seriously, there are many internet translator programs - I'm sure other Kibkom members can advise you.

But getting back to the subject of the thread, the pilot was working for a private company, sprayiıng insecticide for the Forestry Commission. The report says that the company, Envirotek Cyprus, hope to have another helicopter out there to finish the job as soon as possible ...

The most important part of the report is that the pilot wasn't seriously injured - he was taken to hospıtal for checks, but was released soon after.

I have just been informed by someone involved in Lapta that the pilot was killed. I sincerely hope that this information is wrong and that the translation was correct.

I'd be delighted to be told I'm wrong on this occasion and my colleague in Lapta ought to know better than pass on incorrect information.

sophie,
You must go and give your colleague a good kicking for spreading malicious rumours. He got a bit singed and injured his leg when jumping out of helicopter.

The French pilot was spraying for the pine beetles and the those awful caterpillars. when he got caught in some high electric cables, he walked out of the the helicopter but still taken to hospital to get checked. Another helicopter is being sent.
