Do you like Turkish music , if so what is your favourite song?

HI Soner, I love turkish music, I have my radio on when at home and alternate between radio vatan the station that plays the more traditional stuff, and kral and Cyprus fm for the turkish pop.

Pop wise, there are so many artists to choose from but two who I particularly like are Tarkan
and Yilduz Tilbe.

I haven't mastered the words yet but I can hum along to most of the top ten and can often be found bellydancing ,with mop in hand , while doing the housework. Not a pretty sight

I lıke to dance to when cleaning. And it's very often turkish music

My favourite Turkish music track is "Seviyorum Sevmiyorum" as performed by Nil Karaibrahimgil.

To be honest, I cannot listen for any time to "traditional" Turkish songs of lost love and the like - all sound so depressing, horrendous. Each to their own I suppose.

I love Turkish music
Fav artistes being Tarkan, Mustafa Sandal, Tatlises,Baha,etc

Also like Kurdish music, but not the depressing stuff.......

My radio in the car is on Kralpop and digiturk Kanal 408. Dont have a favourite really but I do know and understand most of the words.

Eventhough I lived in Turkey for over 15 years, as much as I tried, I could never acquire a taste for most styles of Turkish music ... particularly those of Sanat Music, Halk Music and Arabesque. I don't mind Turkish Pop Music, but for most of the artists I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to them. Artists I have seen perform on stage are MFÖ, Mor ve Ötesi and Şebnem Ferah.

Strangely I did acquire a taste for nationalistic anthems ... no I"m serious ... in particular the "Onuncu Yıl Marşı"

Yes Asena is a famous Belly Dancer. But there is also a cd available with some of her music on called 'Asena'.

Track 1 is used by lots of the Belly Dancers out there doing the circuit today !!

My favourites are

Ozcan Denis "Yalanmi Yalanmi"

All Rafet El Roman songs, especially "Tukendiginde"

Adnan Chances I think he is great - also Tatlises. My husband listens to it nearly every evening and some of the old Turkish songs are all so depressing - he translates and I sometimes think wish I never asked. Last night a singer was on the TV and he said some people cut themselves when listening to him!!!!!

I also like the traditional fast dance turkish music with the drums and whistling, the dancing is a bit like the riverdance stuff, without the tap.

Correct Soner, considering I have been here 25 years should be able to fluently speak the language - I will keep trying!!!!! So easy just to turn to my husband and say 'what they saying?' I sit at the coffee shop with the old chaps (bloody cheek I am 72) in Karsiyaka each morning and seem to get along with hand waving and pictures.
