If you are a Multimax customer then there is an issue with our free VPN service currently. More info here

For the benefit of anyone else who panicked when they saw this message, fortunately BBC I Player RADIO is still available. Of course free BBC Radio is available worldwide whereas they do not like non-licence payers accessing their TV programmes. For those of us who cannot afford to pay for TV connections , but value our access to radio, Multimax please, PLEASE do not muck up the radio connection in trying to access TV.

well, I personally find this post totally unnecessary and quite insulting.
Not only there is no connection between current issues and BBC radio (it is like saying do not break google while you fix the VPN), but also you making it sound like we do have such issues often (this sort of problem we had with VPN has not happened for over a year) AND at the same time it sounds like we often break things while we try to fix existing issues (something that is also not true)
Also on top, you do not need to 'afford', as:
1. auto vpn service for bbc iplayer is FREE
2. manual vpn service for everything else is FREE
3. 10-15 UK channels broadcast by NTV for MM customers are also FREE
Cheers

Kemal, I'm with MM and I get iBBC absolutely great, but not ITV, just a message from ITV to say its not in our area. (I went through the registration with ITV before the message came up) Someone suggested today that I should speak to the office to enrol with your free VPV and then all should be fine. Is this the case? Thanks

With a MM connection we automatically make traffic to the BBC (and only the BBC) look like it originates in the UK - thus bbc iplayer will just work without you having to do anything. For any other UK restricted service (like itv player or 4oD etc) you have to use the free 'manual' VPN. Once configured you then just connect to the manual vpn (and disconnect from it) as needed.
For details about how to configure the free MM manual VPN on a windows 7 machine have a look here.

Ruggy do you use some 'service' to get these sites while in Cyprus ? From the error message you are reporting it would seem your browser has been configured to use a proxy server which is not working. I do not know if you are a MM customer or not but if you are then you do not need to use a proxy server at all. Did someone configure a proxy server on your browser for you ? If they did then you need to contact them.

Kbsat: I am sorry you toook that attitude to my post, may I say I find yours also insulting.
I did not accuse you of anything - also made a heartfelt plea for Multimax not to risk interfering with an existing free service from elsewhere.*
You are in a business that is new and innovative, subect to the vagaries of weather, electricity and other factors beyond your control, and by definition carries some risk of error. Paying customers inevitably become unknowing guineapigs for innovations. By multimax' own admission existing subscribers have already lost service on more than one occasion because of its geographical expansion. And I am sorry to say that the intitially excellent response to problems is showing signs that resources are overstretched.
Unfortunately we live in a world where a reliable internet service has become an essential for peopl who dont really like or want it, particularly those whose main source of income (eg UK pensions) are in another country, and where snail mail is not entirely reliable.
AS for being free, you would not be in business if you did not pass on the cost of overheads of developing and providing "extras" to customers by way of fees, and in your case they have to pay substantially in advance so dont even get the chance to test whether they like what they are getting! So those who dont take avantage of the full TV service are subsidizing the (obviously better off) who do. And there are hidden costs, such as losing money because of inability to access finanacial institutations or using more expensive alternatives, not to mentioned being stuck at home for three days because service engineers cannot even say which day they will come does cost the customer money. (This has already been reported to your office)
With respect in your enthusiasm you risk losing sight of the fact that some customers really only want a basic service, andwould prefer (or indeed need) to spent time and money on essentials such as heating and medical and vets fees.
You started off with an excelllent service, arguably he best in the country. Another plea , please dont spoil it by rushing too fast to provide extras which should be optional cost for those who do not enjoy technology and/or arent among the more affluent.
PS I dont defend the BBC's reaction to overseas reception of TV programmes, but they have made it clear they will try to block access. Currently radio is freely available worldwide and it would be a trajedy to provoke them into revoking this. Btw the blocking of tv programmes is I understand worldwide and not particular to North Cyprus.
