Kibkom Forum vs Cyprus44??

I realise this may have been brought up before but the reason for the thread is that it was mentioned to me the other day by someone that " doesn`t post on forums " that since 44 closed all the decent posters have gone??? And there is no decent replacement for it and that the REGULAR posters that used to use 44 feel the same.

Surely 44 fell for various reasons, abuse, lack of respect for other members etc...

Yes I found it very informative and there were not as many forums around to check through.

What or whom do you class as a decent poster?

I used to read & occasionally post on 44
I think Kibkom is an excellent forum. Very informative with helpful members.

I am sorry , I will rephrase it but taking an extract from a recent e.mail I received.

You must know that I do not use forums, since the demise of 44 there has not been a proper decent forum and most of the good regulars posters feel the same.

I wish some one had just started a simple forum like 44 format and then more people may have used it.

But I do not have time to waste putting stuff on a forum that hardly anyone uses.

The receipt of this e.mail prompted me to ask the question. I do not mean to start World War 3, just a genuine concern as to what people genuinely feel about Kibkom.

I used to read the 44 some times , but found so many rude comments on there . Some one would ask a simple question and get such rude answers back .

I much prefer to read this one every day , I use it as my daily paper

It is kept very well , thanks to the mods .

Thanks CarolHM.. As far as I am concerned Cyprus 44 is dead, KibKom is alive, and everyone makes choices as to whether they want to be a member and contribute (and reading is a 'contribution' too. We moderators try to keep out the bad, and love you all.

If someone does not wish to be part of the KibKom family, we have to appreciate that is their choice, and in my opinion, their loss.

I used to enjoy Cyprus 44 and was sad that it died, but KibKom is my forum now and it is up to all of us to keep it flourishing. Thanks to all of you who are part of Soner's KibKom family.

As long as we see the good from the old days, then life remains sweet.!

Sounds a bit like 'where have they all gone, the class of '64'

Anyone brave enough to list all the available forums?

We could then 'road-test' them against Kibkom.

AND THE WINNER IS,...............

1: I did try the forum by Littlenige?, not impressed.
2: Having the attention span of a goldfish, I often get bored with the 'active topics' being full of 'hair dryer wanted', 'sink plug for sale', type threads with little or no responses. Might it be an idea to have a 'hot topic' list of threads getting the most responses?
3: I would like to see more threads discussing the Politics, Economy, Inflation, Finances, etc, but without resorting to the childish or bitter style of 'cyprus-forum.com'.
4: Although a 'goldfish', I do realise we all have different interests.

I think this lacks some of the entertainment value of 44. That said it was a bit like watching Jeremy Kyle, it was only entertaining for so long. I found some posters rude and at times often thuggish.

This is a good forum decently moderated. I think a lot of these forums have become quiet this is mainly due to 2 reasons. 1. There seems to be less tolerance of bad behaviour and therefore the protagonists have left and 2. Most of us have been here a while, there are fewer newbies so less questions need to be answered and those questions that need to be answered are more in the public domain.

I use this and the "Happy Clappy" board which is also is quieter than it used to be but still has a good bunch of people.

I think the big difference is the amount of posts on here that go unanswered!

At times 44 was a hoot Do I miss it, no not at all, times have changed. Up popped loads of Forums all at once at the end of 44 and I must say I do not very often find the time or the need to post, I do look on here quite often and find this to be the only one I do look at or log onto. So yes this IS in my view a great Forum and replacement for 44.

( JMHO) haha.

44 is not dead its just sleeping.
It was fun, annoying, lnformative, frustrating, and sometimes a real pain in the ass but I for one thought it was the best NC forum of them all.
Izzet has to take some credit for creating it when he did at a time when there was a lot going on within NC,.. most of which has now settled down to a more "normal" way of life and things have moved on a bit.
I wonder what it would take to get Izzet to part with it ?....

Turtle, that was suggested, but Izzet resisted it. He has other businesses that he runs, and maybe he felt Cyprus 44 was his baby and he did not want it adopted!

There are several forums out there, similar to this one, which has diluted things down a bit.
I think this is by far the most popular, and in time others will fall by the wayside or change slightly to fit in better with this one.

The more posts on here the better, its disapointing when you come here to have a read and there is nothing new.
I always try to post something, whether it is an original post or an answer to someone elses.

So, if someone has an issue with living/dealing with the TRNC, lets hear it!
People can then air their differing views on the subject.

Well said CC. A forum is only great if everyone tries to contribute. This forum is growing fast as have noticed that over the last 6 months we have gained at least 500 new members. I am constantly activating new accounts on a daily basis.

I found 44 good for information for a start but got really sick of the childish slagging and bullying that went on. Thank goodness it 'died' and that there are other forums that have taken its place. Kibkom is one of three that I look at regularly and find it is the best one at the moment.

C44 was a mine of information and there was always someone to point you in the right direction.

This forum for me is the nearest out of the newer ones that does that. But I flick through a few just in case lol

I know how hard it is to keep a forum alive when people read and don't post so thank you to the owners and helpers.

Glad you still follow us KK. I often think this place is a bit of a waiting room. People waiting to see out their days, and people waiting for the next move, and people waiting to see if they like it. But such is the case of many places where ex pats put their toes in the water of a foreign land. I am still here, but who knows what will happen if another door is opened.

And part of the raison d-etre of this forum is helping those people find out in advance what we have to offer and find out what is on offer to get out!

Life changes, geography, fitness, desires and of course forums. So whatever was good about Cyprus 44 is now gone, and I am very happy to be part of what I call 'The KibKom Empire'

And what is wonderful is that you can be a member in any part of the world. Good =- innit!!!!!!!
