Thanks for that number. Will give him a bell in April. Anyone else got any contacts with regard to this topic? Anyone else had on going problems with theirs?Ours just cant cope with the inflow of water from washing machines etc. We have to get it emptied about 4 times a year but even with that it is constantly overflowing and it stinks! Not great when you are sitting on balcony trying to enjoy the sunshine!!!!! Any more comments from other members would be very welcome!!!!

I also had the similar problem with our septic tank, only for 4 times a year would have been good! I used Orhan, he advertises in the back of Cyprus Today. 05428846016. I don't know if you are in an old house, I am, and the tanks just weren't built big enough for the amount of waste we have today. He built me a new septic tank, and then put a channel in from the old to the new. Orhan speaks good English, is a hard worker and reliable (also cleans after the work is done). If you do call him, would you say Stella gave you the number please.

Thanks Stella, much appreciated! No ours is I block of 5 apartments in town, and built in 2004. Maybe one of the tanks has collapsed or something, but the pipework must be dodgy anyway I think. God knows what it will cost to get it fixed!!!! Will defo give your guy a bell when I'm back out in April. How long ago did you get yours done? Not being rude but how much was it, so I can maybe have a rough idea! How often do you have to have it emptied now? But I realise that ours prob does have more useage as it is the 4 apartments plus the penthouse. Thanks so much.

The tanks are designed to overflow, it is not a problem. If you consider average usage to be 150l per person per day then a 3000l tank would take only 10 days to fill with 2 in the house. It is the design of the tank and the soak away that is important. Check out some designs on the Internet but my guess is that you have solids going out of your soak away. There should be a T piece on both the exit of the first tank and of the exit to the soak away. This stops the solids exiting where they should not, allowing the solids to be broken down in the tank. I had a problem with mine in England and the Clay T piece had broken off and fallen the the bottom of the tank.. I put plastic branches on the exits to sort the problem.

Trust me Col it IS a problem and a huge one!!!! Its not the soak away, its one of the traps outside the building and when really bad another trap. You'd need to see it to understand. Something, as you suggested, must have broken or come away. I shall be getting 4 different people to look at it and give us estimates when out at Easter. Thanks for your input anyway. Appreciated.

Sorry, I do see you have a problem but a tank overflowing is not a problem unless the solids are going out. You mentioned traps? Do you mean the change of direction boxes? These are of poor design and are prone to blocking but think It tends to be more of a problem for those that come and go, the solids can dry out in the box.
If it is backing up from the tank check the exit of the first tank, if it does not have the exit pipe going beneath the solid layer then it may be blocking and pushing back up the run. Good luck.
