It was pointed pout to be today. It is a footer on Saturday's paper . Asd has been said, it states that 'due to popular demand' the paper will now be weekly only.

What about the popular demand to have "News" about Cyprus instead of the main paper being stuffed full of the rest of the world then? Guess they missed that bit.

When I first moved here full time a couple of years ago I purchased a copy in the belief it would be a 'mine' of useful local information and assist me in the settling in process.

I remember being impressed by the thickness of the publication as I picked it up and thinking 'My word, this will take me all week to get through'.

Well, the front page had (as I recall)international and Turkish news,so I ventured inside with eager anticipation, and to be fair there was some local items on the next couple of pages.

It was downhill after that sadly.

I then realised that the 'bulk' of the publication that had initially impressed me as I placed it in my shopping trolley actually consisted of two inserts, one of which was a compete guide to Turkish TV for the forthcoming week.

The second supplement was a motley collection of photos of 'Half Cut' red-faced tattooed ex-pats surrounded by empty Efes bottles at various low budget functions trying to look like they were having a great time.

The back couple of pages consisted of Turkish football reports, which as a Rugby/Cricket fan were of no particular interest.

Needless to say I didn't buy another copy.

Philoz, the red faced tattooed boozy brigade must have loved seeing them selves in The Star then. Lord only knows what went wrong at the printers most weeks, but red was the prominent colour at all times and everyone resembled boiled lobsters! As to important news being shunted to two lines on the RHS of a page. I read those now because its the only place you'll find an increase in petrol, gas etc., if at all.

And free and the pictures are a better colour ( I agree with Philoz!! ) Luckily there is a choice of e-papers, as Dipkarpaz does not sell any papers at al!! You can look at some in the coffeeshop but of course nothing in English. Can't say I'm bothered, better choice of news online, including in Kibkom Times!
My husband only wants newspapers for lighting the fire, says that's their best use!

With the availability of all news on the internet I will be surprised if CT survives much longer. Have not bought it for at least 2 years because it is largely dross as commented on above.

Hi Soner, is there a way of getting the Kibcom times direct to my inbox.

Love the content but being not too technical I lose the link or generally need reminding to go check etc.

Mint1955, there is a link on the forum. But great idea, what I will do in next issue is have a subscribe form for readers to add their email address and I will send them a weekly email with the link to the Kibkom Times as soon as it is released. Problem solved.

Soner, it would be great if you do that and then we can say "bye, bye C2D" Perhaps Steven Day et al, could do a weekly column? I must say Steven gives me a good laugh, 'cos he says what I'd love to say, but don't have the opportunity!!

I saw Stephen last night at Tropicana in Ozankoy doing his talk on Northern humour very funny. I have seen it twice before, some different material, Would love it if you could persuade him to do a column in Kibkom Times, maybe once a month!

Why don't you ask him Owl Lady. I don't know if he would do it for love! And I wish I had known he was giving a talk, I would have been there. I knew nothing about it at all. Missed out again.

But Ido not think Stephen Day would be disloyal to CT - he has been with them for a long time, and unless it ceased to be, I don't think you would get him (or any of the columnists) to come to KKT, much as we would love to.

But there is nothing to sotp anyone writing about the tlak. That would be wonderful, cos I was not there and cannot report - so come on, all contributions welcome. You get a moment of fam,e but no more.
