I suppose expropriation means taking away peoples land. Does anyone on here know the actual route of the pipe line from Turkey.

You (or rather 'they') have missed the point here. The pipeline and pumping station to take the water from Turkey to the dam is practically finished - certainly the route has been excavated. The new 'appropriation' is for land for the pipelines (many of them) to distribute the water from the dam to the various population centres.

Someone sent me a 10 minute video (you tube) of the building of the dam(s) and the laying of the pipeline, very interesting. No idea how to post it on here sorry. They saw it on Kibkom somewhere.

Anybody know where you can get a copy of the map showing what land is effected by the pipelines?

Actually a link to the video was given in the KibKom Times issue 23, page 11 about the ATA trip to the dam. Take a quick look before it changes tomorrow, or it will be archived. But still available as stated. You might find the video helpful in terms of how and form where the pipeline comes, and as you will see form the roads around, the pipeline to villages and towns are now being laid. But the entire thing will n ot be operational for about another year.

You are quoting from a Greek highly politicized source so you must expect that the worst possible phrasing will be used.... In the UK they would say 'compulsory purchase' and it goes on all the time the world over when major civil engineering projects are undertaken. It's called progress and this island can't benefit from it soon enough.

I must correct an earlier post regarding the pipeline, construction has only recently started under the sea from Turkey. The first few hundred yards of underground working has been done after that comes the suspended section at 250 metres expected to arrive on Cyprus side around April.

The dam supplying water in Turkey includes a hydro electric facility is about 250 metres above sea level and hence the water will be flowing under gravity to Cyprus. It will then be pumped the couple of km to the Getcikoy dam, this pipeline is completed, and then pumped out to Guzelyurt and Lefkosa. Anyone has not seen the Getcikoy dam then take a look it is quite impressive and the view from the top is good overlooking the village and seeing the prospective lake area. Also at several points between Getcikoy and Lefkosa there a depots with hundreds of pipes awaiting burial.
