Help with Samsung Galaxy email attachments

I am hoping someone can help - i have emails that i can view on my Samsung Galaxy tablet but i cannot see the attachment or any photos. If i click on the attachment it offer me Preview or Save - which ever i click on it tells me i need to download the email first !! How do i "download" the email - i thought i had by opening it. Help please in idiot guide !

Hi, think if you look in downloads the attachment will be there.As you click on attachment look in top left hand corner of screen, a little arrow will be flashing to let you know its downloading, drag screen down and it should tell you its complete.

Before you can save or preview the attachment you have to "download" all the email I believe. Swipe to the bottom of the mail and hit load more details if it comes up. Once you have done this go to the attachment and open/save it and it should work as jen says.

Thanks for the replies. Do not understand this blummin tablet (need one for the headache it is giving me ha ha). When i ask it to "download more the little circle just keeps spinning ...and spinning....and spinning. If i try to reply to an email or send a new one it "fails" and i get a message saying "server error - please contact your server administrator" - grrrrr. I gave up and went onto laptop in the end. It doesn't bode well for my holidays as i was taking the Galaxy as i really need to keep in touch with family at the minute .
Dunno about a tablet i think i need a drink - ggggrrrrrr !

Have a Galaxy as well. When setting it up I linked my normal bt email account to the gmail account on the Galaxy. When I use gmail I have the same problem in viewing email attachments. I am no IT guru but I think it may have something to do with gmail security. Have given up on attachment viewing in gmail and just log directly into my normal bt email account and view attachments no problem. But if anyone can advise on a simple way of viewing attachments using the gmail app it would be useful.
Also sent test email from gmail account to my bt account and works fine.
