I may be able to help. I will call next week.

It is so so important that stray cats are rounded up now. Spring will soon be in the air and that is the time that the females all come in to season and start calling for males (gestation period is 9 weeks) so if they start calling early and have a litter say in April/May chances are they will have another in the summer/autumn too. The fewer stray unwanted kittens there are around, the better the life for all the cats, and the easier it will be to find homes for others.

Way too many unwanted kittens and cats. The kindest thing is to have as many as possible neutered and the sooner now the better!

I hope you get lots of volunteers.

it is not just now that we cat catch, it is an on-going all the year round activity with a short break in August when it is too hot in the van for the cats.

Remember volunteers you need to be physically fit and able to carry the heavy traps and the cats in cages in areas that aren't always smooth. I'm only saying this as I just rang forgetting I have a bad back and can't carry anything heavy. Marion is still looking for people and you don't have to be able to drive the van as there is a driver.

Yes of course, but right now as I said, it is particularly important as the females will be coming in to season soon in big numbers, so all the more reason for more volunteers and a round the clock effort I would have thought, as the more cats you catch now the less kittens you will have to deal with in a few months time!

Please note that the cat catchers are accompanied by a man who does any heavy lifting and also does the driving. I'm not saying there is no bending because there ceertainly is, but the days are gone where ladies are expected to lift the traps themselves.

Sophie, when I rang I was told that I would have to lift them despite having a man driving.
