Gas tank permit, well we tried but..............

All I can say is it's a total farce.
Went along this morning with all the paperwork for the gas tank.
All the information provided by Intergas, the paperwork for the fire extinguisher, the site plan and the shared Kocan.
Oopsie! Shared Kocan?
No we can't give you a permit until you have full Kocan we were informed.
So it begs the question are they worried about safety?
Are we illegal for having a gas tank with no full Kocan?
On the bright side they haven't fined us yet but no doubt if the Kocan takes another seven years the fine is racking up!
Tomorrow we plan to register the dogs, wonder if it matters that we are on a shared Kocan, LOL!

That's rather strange because some friends of mine in Lapta have a shared kojan with two other properties and they have just obtained their certificate for the gas tank.

Also I know of some Russians who have a gas tank and no kocan has been issued yet.

That's strange because we lived on a site with a shared kocan however we did not actually have ours at the time but still we got the permit for our gas tank.

I think maybe you got someone who was about due a coffee/fag break and didn't want to put the work in

It would seem so! We went twice once to ask what paperwork they wanted and one to take it!
We will try again next week. I will keep you posted!

We also had the same response & that was 3 years ago, we are still waiting the final Kocan. We also spent £350 having new plans drawn siting the position of the gas tank, all to no avail. We asked where should we position the fire extinguisher & we were told it doesn't matter keep it in the house or the shed if you have one. A great safety feature especially as we are not permanent residents.

Tried to get ours when this most disturbing news broke out by Owl Lady.
We have the kocan for the land but the house is not on it.
No chance of the certificate till the house is on the kocan.

Well we went back today and said that other people have got permits on shared deeds and we were told again no.
We asked why the licence was necessary and were told it was because tanks were like bombs.
Yes right, then we have a bomb and want to do the right thing and licence it we said.
No not on shared deeds unless you get everyone's signatures but my English not good. I get someone.
Down came the guy from upstairs who told us no it's illegal to have a tank on shared deeds. When we pointed out others had them too we were told that the police would come and investigate. Heck!
He then had a change of mind and took us upstairs to look for our Tapu file number. He found that and took us upstairs to the top floor to the head honcho and after half an hour and a request for a copy of our sale agreement, they found our permissions to build and final approval.
As a result they have started to proceed with our licence and the paperwork has gone to Lefkosa............................
Watch this space!

All just typical!!! Friends have lived in their house for 7 years, had a gas supply for a lot of that time they cannot even get a shared kocan because they cannot get PTP. So looks like another case of make it up as you go along.

I hate living here now and after 8 years of saying I am here for life the barstewards have finished me!!

Oh Cyprusishome, I am sorry to hear that.
We did manage to licence the dogs this morning quite easily but then the other gas tank business is just frustrating.
We have been told that we will be liable for back tax, the fine I guess!
It seems that a lot of tanks have been installed by the gas companies with no questions asked.
If this has always been the law for some while, our tank was installed in 2007, why are the gas companies not being targeted for fines for doing illegal installations?
My guess is because it is the people like us who are the easy targets.
At the end of the day why is Kocan important?
Surely the issue should be that if a tank is there it should be checked and licenced for safety reasons by the authorities regardless of permissions to build, final approvals or anything else.

Just been talking to an acquaintance who knows all about fire safety. His investigations show that this law has been in force for many years but the way it is now being implemented suggest that a new money spinner has been found because the annual checks are OTT.

If it is only for safety reasons what difference does it make if you have a kocan shared or otherwise.

Panchocat you are unfortunately correct about the fine! We had our tank installed in Dec 2005 by Jetgaz, no mention of a annual certificate. Consequentially when I did decide to be honest, a whacking great fine of 864 tl.

Owl Lady, sounds about right! We were told we will be liable for the back tax.
I still think the gas companies, in our case Intergas, have been negligent in not informing people of the need for a permit when they installed the tanks.
I also think they should be fined for what we are being told are illegal installations, but they won't be!!!

Panchocat we were told the exact opposite.
The certificate starts from when it is applied for & obtained, cost last year was 37TL.
Doesn't matter when the tank was installed.

It is still 37 tl per year.Do you think I will get my 864 tl back?

Doubt it Owl Lady as we have been told we will have to pay the fine!
Tinker yes that's when the certificate starts but the fine is apparently back dated.
