can anyone recommend the best (safest from a security standpoint) way of disposing of a laptop in the TRNC

take out the harddrive and keep or destroy it seperately.
you can drop off the laptop in Multimax office and we will forward it for you to get it recycled as opposed to throwing it into the bin, if you care about that as well.

I couple of yeas back I had a hard drive that was considered totally useless because it burst into flames! Perhaps setting fire to it would be your best option? Being serious.

I gave my old steam driven computer to John Redgate from Cartridge Island who refurbished it for a school in Esentepe. Contact him before binning it or setting fire to it! He may be able to find it a loving home!!!

Destroying a hard drive is actually quite simple, just hit it with the hammer a few times and you are practically good . Even though the data stays on the disks, using data recovery on disfigured harddrive costs thousands, if not tens of thousands of dollars... You shouldnt worry about it so much than unless you are in FBI most wanted list
Rest of the machine can be given to places like cartridge island who can refurbish it with a new/or used second hand harddrive...
