Whats the best way to connect a computer to TV for internet TV. HDMI or RS232 for best video & audio?

Short answer: erol is correct (as always)
Long answer:
I think you are confusing rs232 with vga output. the easiest way to differentiate between the two is that rs232 has 2 rows of pins and the male is on the computer, where as vga has 3 rows of pins and the female is on computer. To differentiate easier, vga connectors are usually blue in color while rs232 is black.
Now, from technical point of view, rs232 cannot be used to transfer any audio and video at all, they are an obsolete technology and you cannot find them on new laptops anymore at all (replaced by the usb ports)
So in case you were confused(not very difficult on on old port types, vga, serial(rs232), parallel ports all look like one another) and the actual question is whether to use hdmi or vga, than the answer is definitely hdmi if your laptop and tv both has this port.
HDMI is not only superior and much newer technology, it has the convenience to transfer both video and audio through one single hdmi cable, whereas vga only transfers video. In order to use vga and also transfer audio to your tv, you need to use a seperate cable from speaker/headphone output into your tv, making the whole setup a lot messier.

I'm glad someone has asked this question because it's set me thinking of doing the same thing. I've looked at the rear of the TV and HDM12 and HDM14 are not being used but HDM1 appears to have the cable which runs into the back of the Digibox. Can I move that someone else and leave HDM1 free for cable from laptop into TV screen? For those of you who might be thinking "what a silly person", I apologise!!

Why not just plug the laptop into one of the free hdmi ports (2 or 4) ? You could move the digibox to one of these and use hdmi 1 for the laptop if you really want to.
