Hi we bought a jail broken Matricom G box MX2 in England in December we were told it would work any where with a minimum 5mbs internet
connection, I was a bit apprehensive as at the time our speed rarely reached 5mbs.
After installing, it worked ok despite not having 5mbs. Now we regularly get in excess of 5mbs and it works well. Picture quality is very good, but not
quite HD. It offers programs from all over the world including all sports (football for some reason, the picture is watchable but not as good as you
watch in the bars here, don't know why as they seem to use XBMC of sorts as well).
We can also get movies, catch up tv etc.
Not quite sure how all these programs movies etc get streamed and don't know the legalities of it either.
Well worth the money.

You don't actually need a box at all unless you want to view on the tv screen. You can just download XBMC from the internet and let it run for free on your computer, ideal if you have a laptop. Has to be said that takes a bit of time to understand how it works and set up the applications but once done it works well.

@ Mike K- I have been researching these Android boxes as I am thinking of going down that route-the G Box MX2 is the one at the top of my list,It is interesting to hear you have had success with it ,I think they are about £95 on Amazon UK ($99 in the US!) and are not the cheapest boxes around but they get good reviews and I hear the support is very good.
Do you use the NTV plug in,and did you get a wireless keyboard as many seem to think is needed?
I was a bit puzzled when you referred to it as 'Jailbroken' as I thought this only applied to Apple products-The MX2 is specifically designed to run IPTV without any additional software is it not?
I would be grateful for any feedback on this Box or if anyone else has used similar products.

philoz I have an apple TV 2nd generation jailbroken running XBMC had it for around 3 years now, I also have a Minix Neo X7 android box quad core 2gig rom 16 gig ram, runs very well come's fully installed with XBMC installed, but you have to install all the addons yourself, so you have to install sshdroid onto the android box and use cyberduck on your computer so that you can copy the addons to the addon folder in XBMC, It's a bit of a hassle at first but just google and after a while it will come to you, I also have XBMC on my MacBook Pro easy to download and install the addons, same with Windows the latest XBMC is frodo 12.3 and one of the best addons is ( repository.superrepo.org.frodo.all ) this will put around 900 addons onto your XBMC, it includes 1Channel, icefilms, expattv, mashup, I could go on, you will receive the latest movies from 2014, The Monuments men, Robocop, The Book Thief, any movie or tv show that you can think of you just use the search link , and you can watch thousands of movies. But the best of all the box's is the apple Tv 2 very reliable with no problems, but you just can't buy them anymore unless you want to pay up to 200 pounds on ebay, sorry for being so long winded, I would say install it on your laptop and use your HDMI to connect to your tv install the addons in PROGRAM FILES, XBMC, ADDONS, just drag ( repository.superrepo.org.frodo.all ) into your addons and start up XBMC and you then set up XBMC the way that you want, the best entertainment system you will ever come across and free.

The apple tv 3 can't be jailbroken but if you look up ( jailbreak apple tv ) you will find how to put plex onto the apple tv 3, plex media server is another great entertainment package, go into this site
http://www.appletv3jailbreak.com/
it will explain everything about Plex Media Server and how to install it on your PC or Mac, once you have installed Plex you have to add plugins to get all the movies and tv shows, the best plugin is ( UnSupportedAppstore.bundle ) you place it into program files/plex media server/plugins.
anyway this is another great entertainment program for your PC.

Hi Philoz.
I bought it as jail broken so all the stuff that Aussiejock is talking about (I think) was pre installed on it. As not being too PC savvy I don't think I could do what Aussiejock has done but we can also get all the addons he mentioned.
We control it by the remote supplied, we also bought a wireless mouse which works well if you only want it to change channels and enter the odd text when searching for programs.
Other extras we can get is full internet access effectively turning the tv into a smart tv. So if you plan on using it for emailing etc then maybe a keyboard maybe advisable.

Another option for xbmc is to use it with a Raspberry Pi - I use this option and find it spot on! does take a little configuring from scratch, but you can get SD cards pre installed with the OS.

I suspect there are many readers who, like me, are completely bamboozled by all this techno speak. What with Apple whatsits and Raspberry Pie, I thought I`d slipped into a recipe post in error. Think I`ll have to just stick with Digiturk.

Search Youtube for XBMC and a good list of download tutorials come up, Patience as it takes a bit of understanding to install the downloads.
