We have UPVC wood effect windows which were installed by our builder when we bought the house. Whilst these are fine in the winter they do get affected by the very hot summer sun when they warp and swell making them very difficult to close, once opened. We have tried to contact the suppliers, who have continually ignored our requests to come out to do various small repairs needed. So overall not to be recommended if you have an alternative

Thanks for the advice, maybe Aluminium is an option then!

We use Dogpen at Karaghlanalo, ( can't remember how to spell!)
Windows & flyscreens fitted by them good service & you can knock them down a bit, well we did anyway.

Friends of ours used Aspen windows, they are wood effect UPVC, made to a very high standard and they are thrilled with them.
We also have UPVC windows installed by the builder and in seven years they have never warped or given us problems.
