its driving me mad, help needed please.

This past few weeks when I start up my laptop a message comes up. COULD NOT CONNECT TO PROXY SERVER. ACCESS DENİED. After ages turning it off and on again I do somehow get connected. Could someone please have any idea why this is happening and what I do about it. Bearing in mind I am at a complete loss at doing anything like this. I do not even know what a proxy server is. Any help would be gratefully accepted.

It may help those more techie minded to assist if you let them know what Operating system you have.

Couple of things to try.

Have you done a virus scan if so with what programme?

If you do not have it already go to download.com and download Malawarebytes and scan with that and whatever anti virus software you have
Some are wise and some otherwise.....

It sounds like you are using the OPERA browser in lieu of the more popular Internet ExplorerFirefox or Google Chrome.

If you press F12 and select turn off 'enable proxy servers' you should be able to access everything

Best I can do and hope it works........if it doesnt then post on here and I will try for a solution.....however you do need to state what programs you using (e. g. windows 7 and the browser you are using )

Thank you jonnie and huggiesbob for your informative input. I am on Windows 7 and we have automatic systems for scanning and firewalls in place. True, I am on Opera, so thank you for the advice on that. I will let you know how I get on with it. Again many thanks to you both.
