A very big Thank you to KAR. I posted on here yesterday about an injured cat that had turned up in our street. It was there again today so I called KAR and a very kind guy has just picked the poor cat up. So thank you Kar for your kindness and quick response. I hope he will be ok. They said they would let me know.

Some folk are quick to criticise but I think they do a grand job with limited income.

Here, Here, they have my full support and do a sterling job under very difficult circumstances.

They had my support too, until today. My wife and I, having sold our apartment, have been selling items that we can't take with us at Alsancak Lemar boot sale, every Sunday for 6/7 weeks. Not wanting to carry unsold items back up to the penthouse, we started taking them to KAR in Girne. It being our last week here, pro tem, I also took along my gas one ring stove, most people that came to the boot sale will remember Tony and his ever boiling kettle, lots of people wanted to buy it. Unfortunately when I took it into KAR it was upside down, causing the gas canister to leak. I removed the now faulty cylinder. I was showing one of the assistants how it worked when some "lady", who I assume was the boss, said to the assistant, a lovely lady, "can you do that somewhere else, I'm trying to work"
The assistant said "he's showing me how it works", "I don't care what he's doing, I'M not keen"
My wife was just about to bring another box through when I told her to put it back in the car and I walked out, we won't be going back, maybe this rudeness was due to the "very difficult circumstances" if it was, then as Harry Truman?? said, "if you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen", even if they don't have a portable stove.

Tony
ps actually, I took my kettle in, along with about 12 gas canisters, I didn't expect them to sell it, I thought they could use it, cut down the electric bill, but, if it's not your money, what's a kilowatt here or there, mebbe it's a dog's life

Maybe the lady was having a stressful day.I go to the centre every week & KAR deserve all the support they can get.The staff there do a great job and have to sometimes deal with cases that most people wouldnt ever want to see.I always say that none of the animals asked to be there so we should do all we can to support them & maybe you could just put it down to having a bad day.

I think that if someone had walked into a small shop or storeroom full of clothes and plastic bags waiting to be sorted and started handling leaking gas canisters and attempted to light up a small gas ring, then I too would have been unhappy with the person concerned woudn't you?

So I did owl Lady, back in sunny UK for my grand-daughter's wedding.
I have tried to reply to Sophie's misrepresentation of the fact four times but keep getting "timed out"
She couldn't be more wrong about the events of Tuesday but I suppose I will leave her to enjoy her "unanswered" riposte

Tony

ps Have a nice night

KAR were brilliant to me when importing my dog from UK at short notice. They raised all the paperwork this end and took the stress out of a very stressful experience for me. All for a very small donation
Big Thank you all at KAR, and having worked for animal charities myself, it is highly stressful work and easy to lose your rag with people
