No, and the search is on over a very wide part of the GLobe. Theory is now that it may wlel have been hi-jacked (which some of us thought in the first place). iT IS ALSO THOUGHT THAT IT FLEW ON FOR 7 HOURS AFTER LOSING CONTACT. But some paper has made a joke of it being found on the Moon!

Those who have loved ones on board must be going frantic at the lack of news.

Still no news of plane, according to BBC World news a few minutes ago. Relatives threatening to go on hunger strike due to lack of information from Malaysian government.

Whilst this is a really disturbing incident, if they mean it, I guess those on hunger strike will get very thin. Do they expect the Malaysian Government to fabricate information? There are press conferences on a daily basis, hundreds of media outlets there on a 24/7 basis, 26 nations involved in the search and leading experts from all facets of the aviation industry involved in the investigation. It is awful for families/friends, but threats such as these are unhelpful in the extreme.

It is pointless going on hunger strike for the reasons you say. What I do not understand is if the plane has been hijacke,d why no ransom notes etc. Or did the plane travel on and then run out of fuel and drop into the ocean or mountains or some such. Why the silence? Or did someone somewhere just need an airplane.

It really is a huge mystery, but going on hunger strike is an insult in a way to all those putting in resources to find the plane.

Sorry I am only quoting what the BBC are stating on their news.

Owl Lady - this is most certainly not a dig at you, I well recall the saying, "do not shoot the messenger." The point I was making is the Malaysian Governmental authorities are trying their best in an unprecedented aviation situation and actions such as the one you described cannot help them to resolve the issue.

No one is shooting you, Owl Lady, but the comment is valid and I agree. The BBC are only stating what is happening, and although one feels desperately sorry for those who are missing loved one,s going on hunger strike will achieve nothing, but possibly more money into the hands of doctors as those not eating become ill. Maybe it is desperate state calling for desperate means- but not perhaps the best choice.

The conclusion of the missing plane...

In the press conference on Mar 24th 2014 Malaysia's Prime Minister said, that the experts of the AAIB briefed the prime minister stating that the satellite experts have done further computations on the satellite data using methods never used before. Based on the new computations Inmarsat and the AAIB have concluded MH-370 flew the southern corridor with its final position west of Perth, Australia at a remote area of the Indian Ocean with no landing sites. "It is with deep sadness and regret I must inform you that, according to these new data, flight MH-370 ended in the southern Indian Ocean", the Prime Minister stated.

Shortly after the Prime Minister's press conference on Mar 24th 2014 Malaysia Airlines released their statement given to relatives of the occupants stating: "Malaysia Airlines deeply regrets that we have to assume that MH370 ended in the southern Indian Ocean. As you will hear in the next hour from Malaysia’s Prime Minister, new analysis of satellite data suggests the plane went down in the Southern Indian Ocean."

Shortly after the PM's press conference of Mar 24th 2014 Inmarsat reported that the new analysis of their satellite data used to identify the corridor and final location was based on the Doppler effects modifying radio waves and frequencies depending on speed and direction of travel of the aircraft, these data were compared to other flights. The computations are not precise enough to give the accurate position, however, made it possible to identify the general location. The new modelling and comparism were developed after the first discovery of the data on Mar 11th 2014, the work is still in progress.
