We have booked flights to Spain with Pegasus flying from Ercan into Istanbul and then on to Madrid, Can anyone tell me if we need a visa In Istanbul even though we are in Transit?

No you don't need one. I've flown to Brussels via Istanbul several times.

Hi on a slightly different subject can you buy Duty Free at Ercan & take it through SAW transit?? I thought I read on here that someone had their duty free confiscated at Istanbul even though it was in a sealed bag?

Re duty free alcohol liquids when in transit. Various friends have had a problem with duty free bought at Ercan even though it was marked in transit bag when they reached Istanbul for flight change and have had to give it up or throw it away. Since then I have always just bought at Istanbul during the transit. Other than that I have bought in North Cyprus and packed in hold luggage.
On the other hand, flying from UK into Istanbul for a transit flight, I have only had liquids of perfume and have shown them the transit sealed bag which seemed to cause no problem to them.
It all seems quite variable to me so I avoid Ercan Duty free and really in recent times don't find the prices there very competitive anyway.

Thanks journey1 I will not risk it, I do not normally bother with duty free but noticed the sun cream I like was actually cheaper at Ercan than it was in the South.
