Replacement Pool pumps & domestic water pumps

Hi all,
We live on a complex with 3 large swimming pools and 3 large domestic water tanks which provide water to our properties.
Most of the pumps need replacing. Could anyone suggest someone experienced in this type of work, who would come out
and give us advice and a quote for the work. We are mostly senior citizens so have not got a bottomless pit of money, we
do not mind paying a fair price for the work but we cannot afford to be ripped off. I will be grateful for any suggestions.

You need to talk to Press Teknik in Alsancak. They will probably refurbish the pumps (depending on their condition) for an awful lot less than buying new. I don't think they will handle the removal/replacement but they will certainly recommend someone to do the work. They refurbished my pool pump for 180tl when a replacement would have cost £450 and it is still going strong 3 years later. They will be straight with you and if they don't recommend any particular pump is worth refurbishing they have big selection of new.

Call Seref (Esentepe) and he will come out and see what's needed - 0533 860 7841 his charges have always struck me as reasonable and reflect good value for money

A lot of the time pumps can be repaired, why do they need replacing?

The pumps have been repaired several times as they are all eight years old. We feel it is now false economy
to keep getting them repaired so we are looking to replace them.

A correctly overhauled pump should be pretty much as good as a new one. I work at a hotel where one of the pool pumps is well over 10 years old, during the summer it runs 24/7. My own pump was second hand when fitted to my pool 10 years ago as was my neighbours.
Failure areas for pumps usually are windings and bearings and rotor seals which when changed should be as good as new, some parts such as impellers can become worn but can also be replaces as can o rings and seals. Some bodies and housings can crack these can be expensive or difficult to obtain and are probably the only thing which would prevent an economic repair.

A pump is a pump in that they vary in size depending on the application but essentially they are the same - he just needs to either fix (he will take them apart and see if it's a simple thing... or should you require new he will fit new ones of the correct capability and quality.
Anyway, I would ask him to investigate and quote for fix and or replacement.
For the pool, I would suggest you also ask Murat of Esentepe pools to quote.

Hi
A water pump is not a water pump. The materials used to make it, the technology and the workmanship define it.
If you want a good quality water pump which is durable, is quieter and uses less electricity, We sell Hitachi water pumps which are made in JAPAN. This is a step up from the ones on the market which are made in china and last 6 months if you are lucky. Hitachi, who are in bid to build UK's nuclear power plants, are one of the best at building water pumps and compressors in the world.
Here is a link to the models.

Seref is an experienced plumber/electrician specialising in water treatment operations (several pools, villas, many apartments, bars and commercial outlets, plus a complex water treatment plant) for a large holiday home complex outside Esentepe. We, and neighbours, have used him on our small estate near Bahçeli several times and he is first class. Prompt, courteous, knows his business and is reasonable with costs. One of the few trustworthy tradesmen in our area. Highly recommended him, at least he'll give you a professional opinion of the problem, suggested recommendations/options.

Well thanks for quoting me.... you will notice that I did qualify my post by saying that the quality of the pump should be matched with the task... Seref is a top tradesman and will advise accordingly. I have nothing to sell - and my advice is given without agenda.
BTW a water pump is a water pump and if you find one that's not - don't buy it! I never said they were all the same.... but then you are trying to sell stuff.
